Learning Episode 6 centers on the classroom structure and routines

done by teachers in class to provide a safe, friendly non-threatening and caring

environment. Effective classroom routines ensure order and discipline to help
the students to stay calm and focused on their daily tasks.

At the end of this episode, you must be able to list down the classroom
routines set or practiced by the teacher and observe how the classroom routines
are executed in class.

Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate

teaching and learning. Routines don’t just make the life of the teacher easier.
They have valuable classroom time. Efficient routines make it easier for students
to learn and achieve more.
Establishing routines early in the school year:
o Enables the teacher to run the daily activities smoothly
o Ensures the teacher to manage time effectively
o Helps the teacher maintain order in the classroom
o Makes the teacher more focused in teaching because of spending
less time in giving directions/instructions
o Enables the teacher to explain to the learners what are
expected to them.

Now, are you ready for your observation activity? I bet you are, so let’s begin.

Analyze the routines set by the Resource Teacher by answering the
following questions:

1. Why or why not were the routines set by the teacher effective in ensuring
discipline and order in class?
 For me, the classroom routines set by the teachers are effective. This is
useful to encourage every student to have good conduct inside and
outside the school. The routines help in managing the behavior of the
students in making themselves a good influence on their constituents and
others.

2. Which of those routines were systematic and consistently implemented?

Explain your answer.
 The routines that are systematically and consistently implemented are
moving into the classroom and asking questions during lessons. Since the
students are time-bound, they need to spend most of their time inside the
classroom. During the discussion, when they have something to clarify
about the lesson, they will ask the teacher. The students are vocal to make
the classroom more engaging and, at the same time, they are learning.

Reflect on the observed routines.

1. Which of the routines will you most likely apply in your class in the future? Why?
Why not?

In the future, the routines I want to apply are the transition in classroom
activities, the passing of papers, work with pairs or groups, and asking questions
during the lesson. I will put more focus on these routines because they benefit
not only the students but also the teacher. The more these routines are practiced,
the more likely it is that the students will improve their understanding in class.

To realize your learning objectives, you need observe a class and list
down the classroom rules formulated by the Resource Teacher. Cite the
importance of these rules. If this is not possible during pandemic, recall an event
of your life when you were still enjoying the face-to-face classes, or you may
interview any of your teacher in basic education.

It is imperative to impose classroom rules to reinforce discipline,

safety, and security. These rules teach students self-discipline and self-
control. These eliminate stress and provide a more pleasant, secured, and
non-threatening learning environment. Rules ensure the students
engagement and focus on their classroom activities.

Classroom Rules Importance

1. Be on time. To practice the punctuality of the students.

2. Wear uniform every day. To be formal, pleasant, and neat.
3. Get involved in discussions. To understand the lesson.
4. Be honest. To be a good role model to others.
5. Be quiet and listen when To have respect and enhance students

always clean.
9. Always try your best and To get high grades and have a long-term
concentrate. memory of knowledge.
10. Respect your classmates. To have a good relationship and build a
strong foundation of camaraderie.

Analyze and answer the questions below.

1. Analyze each rule you listed in the table above. What circumstances led to
the formulation of the rule?
 Each classroom rule contributes to the students’ learning development as
it makes them mentors for themselves to act accordingly. Those rules are
significant as a reminder to each learner to take their part by following
and applying the classroom rules.
2. Are classroom rules really very important?
 Yes, without classroom rules, the class is disorganized, distracted, and the
students will become disrespectful. It is a must to have classroom rules to
ease the difficulties of handling the misbehavior of the students. To have a
pleasant classroom environment that will influence the students' ability
to listen, learn, and apply the lessons in their day-to-day lives.

Reflect on the various classroom rules set by the resource teacher. Will you
have the same rules? If not, what rules are you going to employ? Explain your
answer.
I would make my own rules, but I would also apply the other rules from
my cooperating teacher. I will apply what I have learned and experienced when I
was a student to create a set of classroom rooms. I want my class happy, willing
to learn and able to craft their own ideas. Incorporating various teaching
strategies and instructional materials into the classroom rules ensures the
effectiveness of the implementation.

Take some snapshots of the classroom routines employed by the Resource
Teacher which are worth emulating. Tell something about the pictures.

The pictures shows different classroom routines employed by the teacher.

It helps the students to discern understand what is expected of them and
how to perform specific tasks independently. These dependable patterns
enable teachers to devote more time to purposeful teaching.
