An Investigation into how much money students at charlie


smith high school spend on a daily basis.

Introduction

This research was chosen to gain an understanding of the daily

spending of the Students of Charlie Smith high school. It is hoped that

the information would be helpful in guiding future research as well as

inspire students to find ways they can save money on a daily basis

Here are the Objectives to be achieved from this research:

1. To find out the daily spending pattern of Students

2. To evaluate the greater spending pattern of each group

3. To exercise mathematical concepts that have been though

throughout the course

Method of Data Collection

In order to gather information about the issues at hand the researchers used a

survey instrument. A total of 20 students were selected, male and female. There

are 5 grade levels and 20 students were taken from each grade level. Each

student answered a questionnaire consisting of 11 questions. The results of the

survey were then organized and presented.

The Questionnaire is an instrument for collecting data and it has a number of

advantages:

● It requires little time to complete

● It can be done at the convenience of the person required to have it

completed

● It guarantees confidentiality since respondents are not required to attach

their names.

Figure 1: shows How much is the daily spending for students at Charlie Smith High
School.

The researchers did a survey in the school of Charlie Smith High, we used a

questionnaire in which one of the questions is How much is your daily spending for

school?. We concluded the research and these are the answers 8/20 or 40% of the

respondents choose that their daily spending is $500-800, 4/20 or 20% of the

respondents said that their total daily spending is $900-$1400. From the questionnaire

issued the amount spend on a daily basis by most of the respondents is $500-$800

Figure 2 was a graph presentation which show that 5% of the respondents

choose that their daily spending for lunch is $100. The same amount of answers

was collected for the spending of $200, however there was an increase in

responses for option C which was $300 in which that is the amount for a canteen

lunch at Charlie Smith High School.

Analysis of data
The research concluded and the following data was presented:

In figure 1, The researchers used a questionnaire in which one of the questions is How
much is your daily spending for school?. These are the answers 8/20 or 40% of the
respondents choose that their daily spending is $500-800, 4/20 or 20% of the
respondents said that their total daily spending is $900-$1400. From the questionnaire
issued the amount spend on a daily basis by most of the respondents is $500-$800

In figure 2, The data collected show that 5% of the respondents choose that their
daily spending for lunch is $100. The same amount of answers was collected for
the spending of $200, however there was an increase in responses for option C
which was $300 in which that is the amount for a canteen lunch at Charlie Smith
High School.

In figure 3, the researchers set out to find out the amount of money students
spend weekly. We concluded the research and the results are as follows. 8/20 or
40% of the respondents chose their weekly spending $1000-$2000 which was
the highest amount of responses and so the average spending of students at
Charlie Smith High School is at least $1500. The daily spending of students at
the School is $1500÷7=$214. $214 is spent on a daily basis by students at
Charlie Smith High School.

In figure 4, the data shows the weekly savings of students of charlie smith high
school which indicates that 50% or 10/20 choose that their weekly saving is
$1000, however 15% or 3/20 of the respondents choose that their weekly
savings is $2000,

Discussion of findings

The research was set out to find the daily spending of students at Charlie Smith High

School, the result shows that the daily spending of students is around $500-$800 so the

average spending of students = $650. The researchers then ask the

respondents how much was the cost for lunch?, the canteen sell lunch at cost a

minimum of $300, most times students buy beverages which may cost about $120, so

that’s 300+120 = 420 so students at charlie spent around $420 on lunch. Students also

travel by bus. The bus fare costs $70 for students. The researchers also ask how

Conclusion

In conclusion, the major purpose of this research is to find the amount of money do

students at Charlie Smith High School spend on a daily basis. Through the survey, the

researchers have tested the understanding level of all the participants on their

knowledge about their daily spendings.
