ICT ASSIGNMENT

1.BASE CASTING - is mounted on the bottom of a hard drive disk unit. It is part of the
intelligent circuit board that is wired there.

2.SPINDLE - is a shaft that holds rotating hard disk drive (HDD) platters in place. The
term is also often used to refer to a single HDD. Spindle speed, measured in rotations
per minute (RPM), is one metric used to gauge disk drive performance .

3.SLIDER - slider or track bar is a graphical control element with which a user may set a
value by moving an indicator, usually horizontally. In some cases, user may also click
on a point on the slider to change the setting .

4.ACTUATOR ARM - An actuator is an electronic device controlled by a motor that

moves the hard drive head arm. In the past, the actuator within a hard drive was
controlled by a stepper motor. However, today the actuator is often controlled by a
servo motor

5.ACTUATOR AXIS - is the central point of the assembly. A motor rotates the axis to
send the actuator heads to the appropriate part of the platters, allowing the device to
read and write data.

6.ACTUATOR - is often part of a computer control system. The actuator is a mechanical

device or motor which carries out the action or decision made by the control system. For
example, the lens of this digital camera moves in and out according to how much zoom
is wanted. This movement is controlled by an 'actuator'.

7.JUMPER PIN - The jumper pins are similar to the pins on the I/O plate on a
motherboard. You enable particular settings by placing a jumper shunt onto specific
pins—creating an electrical circuit between them. The settings these jumpers enable
are hard-coded onto a drive's programmed printed circuit board .

8.JUMPER - is a short length of conductor used to close, open or bypass part of an

electronic circuit. They are typically used to set up or configure printed circuit boards,
such as the motherboards of computers.
9.POWER CONNECTOR - are devices that allows an electrical current to pass through it
for the exclusive purpose of providing power to a device (not a data stream, for
example, or anything more complex).

10.TAPE SEAL - The tapes are mainly used as protective packages for electronic
components, integrated circuits, and other devices .

11.PLATTER - is one or more aluminum, glass, or ceramic disk coated in a magnetic

media is located within a hard drive to store all your computer's data permanently.
When the computer is turned on, these platters begin to rotate at so many RPM
(rotations per minute).

12.RIBBON CABLE - also known as multi-wire planar cable) is a cable with many
conducting wires running parallel to each other on the same flat plane. ... Ribbon cables
are usually seen for internal peripherals in computers, such as hard drives, CD drives
and floppy drives.

13.SCSI INTERFACE CONNECTOR - SCSI or Small Computer Systems Interface is

technology designed to connect devices to a computer. SCSI is a bus technology, which
means that all devices connect to a central bus and are "daisy-chained" together. ... A
SCSI connector is either external or internal.

14.CASE MOUNTING HOLES - A hole used for mechanical mounting of a printed board
(e.g. to the chassis) or for mechanical attachment of components to the board. (also
known as an ‘access hole`)

15.ENVIRONMENT DEVISION - specifies a standard method of expressing those aspects

of a data processing problem that are dependent upon the physical characteristics of a
specific computer. The Environment Division is optional in a COBOL source program .

16.DATA DEVISION - is used to define the variables used in the program. It consists of four
sections − File section is used to define the record structure of the file.

17.PROCEDURE DEVISION - is the main section of the COBOL program. ... The
procedure division contains executable statements, and executable statements contain
variables defined in the data division. We can use the user-defined names and
paragraphs in the procedure division.
