Information
And Communication
Technology
Information
•Information refers to the knowledge
obtained from reading, investigation,
study or research.

•Information is knowledge and helps us

to fulfill our daily tasks.

(e.g. The police officer identified the body of the victim was
related to the family who’s claiming the body, through the
forensic DNA test.)
•Communication is an act of transmitting messages.

•It is a process whereby information is exchanged

between individuals using symbols, signs or verbal
interaction.

•Previously, people communicated through sign or

symbols, performing drama and poetry.
With the advent of technology, these ‘older’ forms
of communication are less utilised as compared to
the use of the internet, email or video
conferencing.
Communication is important in order to gain
knowledge. With knowledge, we are more
confident in expressing our thoughts and
ideas.
•In the 21st century, everything related to
communication utilizes technology to ‘send
out’ or disseminate information to a wider
audience.

•Information can be sent out in many ways.

•The inventions of cellular phones,

television and other electronic devices are
important in enhancing communication.

•Technology is one of the most powerful
agents of change in our society.

•Change comes with technology and it is now

moving at a faster pace than ever.
•We apply technology in almost everything we do in our
lives, we use technology at work, communication,
transportation, learning, manufacturing, creating
artifacts, securing data, scaling businesses and so
much more.

•ICT is the technology required for information

processing, in particular, the use of electronic
computers, communication devices and software
applications to convert, store, protect, process,
transmit and retrieve information from anywhere.
ICT is consist of 3 technologies
1. Information Technology is the use of any
computers, storage, networking and other physical devices, infrastructure
and processes.

2. Computer Technology combines the hardware

of computers and computer-controlled devices with software—operating
systems, authoring tools, expert systems and courseware—to support
training technology.

3. Communication Technology is the

transfer of messages (information) among people and/or machines
through the use of technology.
