Abstract:
This lab is all about understanding the feeding mechanism of overlock machine
that how stitches are formed by the overlock machine on the fabric due to which
we’ve opened different parts of the machine to study their working.

Theory:
Introduction:

Overlock Machine:
In mass garment manufacturing, after lock stitch machines, overlock machines are
mostly used one among many sewing machine types. Overlock machine also
known as serger, over edge sewing machine and interlock sewing machine. An
industrial overlocker is primarily used to sew edges of a cloth piece with clean
finish.

Feed Mechanism:
Feed mechanism is defined as the process by which the fabric is moved forward in
the feeding zone of the sewing machine.

Functions:
 To advance the fabric in the feeding zone of the sewing machine.
 To decide the length of individual stitch (spm)
  Appropriate feed mechanism is sleeted to confirm case in sewing
 Operation and to avoid different sewing faults.

Feeding Mechanism Of Overlock Machine:

The utility model provides a kind of overlock machine cloth feeding mechanism, it
comprises the main shaft, the cloth pushing shaft that are parallel to each other, on
main shaft, eccentric bushing has work feed connecting rod, work feed connecting
rod and main shaft relatively rotate, one end away from main shaft of work feed
connecting rod and one end of work feed swing arm hinged, the other end and the
cloth feeding crank of work feed swing arm are hinged, cloth feeding crank fixed
cover on cloth pushing shaft, the turning cylinder of work feed swing arm and the
axis being parallel of main shaft.This overlock machine cloth feeding mechanism,
can be good by Assembly of the parts when accessory, when installing complete
machine, only this cloth feeding mechanism need be arranged on main shaft and
tighten screw, simplifying installation steps, reduce installation difficulty, shorten
man-hour; Due to the processing request of work feed driving cam compare before
low, and work feed swing arm, needle gage regulate swing arm to be metallic
sintered products, and machining period shortens to some extent, eventually
reduces the cost of whole cloth feeding mechanism.

Conclusion:
In this practical we learned about feeding mechanism of overlock sewing machine.
