The cell is the basic component
of all living things. The human
body is made up of trillions of
cells. They provide the body
with structure, absorb nutrients
from food, convert these
nutrients into energy, and
perform specialized functions.
According to the latest
calculations, in the body of a
young man of about 70 kg and
170 cm tall there are
approximately 30 billion cells.
And the figures would not be
very different for a woman with
similar characteristics.
