Instructions: After watching the video, discuss with your partner the possible answers to the
questions below. Analyze how your answers may or may not be possible. Answer each item in no
more than seven
(7) sentences.

1. If you were John Lloyd, would you eat janitor fish with your friends and siblings? Rice
with salt? Why or why not?
- If I were John Lloyd I would eat janitor fish if I have nothing to eat. I have no
choice but to eat what is available and I won’t refuse what I have but if I were
thinking of my health and my siblings and friends’ health, I won’t allow them to eat
janitor fish. Yes, some say the meat of the janitor fish is edible but the scientist
said that it contains mercury or other high metal. So to be safe I won’t let them eat
janitor fish I would just like to suggest eating another kind of fish that is cheap. In
terms of rice with salt, I have already tried that when I was a child and also eating
rice with salt is not that bad what important is our stomach is full. By that, we can
still survive the upcoming days. But we must control the amount of salt that we will
contain to avoid kidney disease. For me, the rice is more than enough the
important is my stomach is full.

2. If you were John Lloyd’s mother, would you allow your children to eat janitor fish?
- If I were their mother, as I said I won’t allow them to eat janitor fish to avoid health
problems because it will just cause more problems. If they become sick because of
eating janitor fish it will just give me financial problems so we will just suffer more from
poverty because of our situation we can’t afford hospital bills. To avoid eating janitor
fish I will just work very hard if I can, I will find and apply for multiple works just to
survive and keep them avoid from eating that fish. I would also tell them the effects of
eating janitor fish even if it’s edible it is still dangerous for them to take. I will endlessly
convince them to not eat the janitor’s fish for the sake of their health. I will just give
them a different type of fish like tilapia. It is more healthy and more delicious than
janitor fish.

3. How can this problem be possibly addressed by the local government?

- I think it can be addressed by the local government if they will give poor people work
so that they will avoid poverty. They must also announce that the eating of janitor fish
is bad for everyone’s health. By that people might stop eating janitor fish. I also found
an article that said, janitor fish skin can be economically useful by turning it into
leather and it is tested and proven since 2010. By that, the government must allow the
selling of janitor fish to make leather. It can benefit the seller and also the buyer. Now
poor people can sell janitor fish and they will earn money for them to survive then the
buyer can make leather from janitor fish skin and the buyer can also sell it so they
both have benefits.
