Creating the geometry from scratch (1)

Make sure that the Length unit is set to mm in the SpaceClaim Options

Creating the geometry from scratch (2)

In the Sketch mode, draw a circle of a diameter of 101.6 mm

Click on the Move tool, then on the Move
Grid

Click on the green rotation arrow and rotate

the grid by 90°

Type 90° here

Creating the geometry from scratch (4)

• In the XY plane, draw a line starting from the

center of the circle

• Set the length to: 406.4 – the radius (50.8mm)

= 355.6 mm

• Make sure that the angle between the line

and the X axis is 90°
Write in 355.6

Creating the geometry from scratch (5)

• Switch to 3D mode

• Click on the circle, then click on the ‘create line’

button

• Move the grid again until the end of the created line

Creating the geometry from scratch (6)

• Draw a line starting from the end point of the first line with a length of 355.6 mm and
an angle of 90°

Write in 355.6

Creating the geometry from scratch (7)

• Switch to 3D mode
• Create a rounded corner at the intersection of the two lines; set the radius to:
101.6 + 101.6/2 = 152.4 mm

Write in 152.4

Creating the geometry from scratch (8)

• Sweep the circle through the first line

- With the Pull tool highlighted, click on the circle 2
- Select the sweep function
- Click on the first line
- Hit enter on the keyboard

Hit escape. Repeat the same procedure with the second end of the 1 3
Cylinder and the second line

2
Then with the third end
and the third line 3

Creating the geometry from scratch (9)

• Sketch on the upper end of the cylinder 2

- Click on the upper end of the cylinder, then click to sketch a circle
- Sketch a circle with a diameter of 25.4 mm centred with the original circle 1

- In 3D mode, move the created circle down through the cylinder’s axe for:
- 406.4 + (101.6 - 96.41) = 411.59 mm

Write in 411.59
