Detailed Structure of ILLUMINATE
Guidelines for the Event:-
• Illuminate is an international inter-collegiate social entrepreneurship competition
conducted for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
• The colleges can participate in teams consisting of a minimum of 5 members and a
maximum of 7 members who can be assisted by a faculty member if deemed necessary.
• The competition will be conducted over a course of 2 days in 2 rounds, which will be
offline in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
• There will be league segregation before the competition which will be held online on 2
February 2023, where the participating teams will be divided into different leagues. The
colleges in each league will be competing against each other and the winners from each
league will qualify for the final round.
• Round 1 is scheduled to take place on 5 February 2023. In this round, the teams will be
competing within their respective leagues.
• The round 1 results will be announced on Day 2 before the commencement of the final
round.
• The final round, is scheduled to take place on 6 February 2023. In this round, the 7
qualified teams should present a full-fledged business plan which shall be evaluated by
a panel of renowned jury.
• All the participating teams have to mandatorily present a hardcopy of a declaration
letter stating that the business idea presented is not plagiarised or has not been used
anywhere for any commercial purpose and this has to be submitted on 5 February 2023,
before the commencement of Round 1.
• The registration fee to participate in the event for:- National colleges – Rs. 5000,
International colleges – USD 100
• All the participating teams will receive a certificate of participation and hampers worth
Rs. 5000.
• The winner of Illuminate - International Social Entrepreneurship Fest will receive a
certificate, trophy, and a prize worth Rs. 2,00,000.
• The runner-up of Illuminate - International Social Entrepreneurship Fest will receive a
certificate, trophy, and a prize worth Rs. 1,25,000.
• The prescribed attire for Day 1 of the event is business formals and for Day 2 of the
event is traditional attire representing their culture.
• The event will commence at 9 am on both days.
• All the participating teams will be judged strictly on the basis of rules and guidelines
applicable to the respective rounds.
• Food for 5 February 2023 and 6 February 2023 will be provided by Enactus JAIN
(Deemed-to-be University) to all the participants.
• Accommodation will be provided on request subject to availability.
• Kindly note that the dates provided are tentative and the final dates of the event will be
informed 30 days prior to the event.
League Segregation

Guidelines:-

• All the participating teams are required to join a virtual meeting on 2 February 2023.
• A minimum of 3 members from each team are required to be a part of the aforementioned
meeting.
• Each participating team will be segregated into leagues during the course of this meeting
on a random basis.

Round 1 – Video Presentation


5 February 2023

Guidelines:-

• Each participating team will be given a time limit of 2 minutes with a buffer time of 30
seconds to present a short video about their business idea. The video should consist of the
following:-
- Logo
- Tagline (if any)
- Problems tackled
- Practical application of the product/service
• The video presented should be original and credits must be given to the respected authors
or creators if taken from another source. Failing to adhere to these criteria, Enactus JAIN
(Deemed-to-be University) holds the right to directly disqualify the team.
• The participating teams are required to carry a hard copy of the write-up of their business
idea consisting of 800-1000 words. The write-up should consist of:-
- A brief explanation of the idea
- Unique Selling Proposition
- Impact created on society and the environment
- Community uplifted (if any)
- Need and significance of the product/service under the current market conditions
• The teams will be evaluated by a panel of the esteemed jury based on:-
- The video presentation
- Originality of the idea presented
- Relevance of the idea in the real-world scenario
- The ability to tackle the problem stated
- Feasibility
- Adherence to the Sustainable Development Goals laid down by the United Nations
• All participants are requested to adhere to the dress code prescribed for Day 1 – Business
Formals.
Final Round – Business Presentation

Guidelines:-

• The qualified teams from Round 1 will be taking part in the Final Round.
• A PowerPoint presentation consisting of not more than 20 slides where each slide should
contain concise information preferably in the form of bullet points must be presented.
• The time limit for the presentation is 18 minutes with a buffer time of 2 minutes.
• The participating teams are required to present the business idea in front of the panel of
judges, as a final pitch. This presentation should consist of:-
- STP analysis and target customers
- SWOT analysis
- Operational, Financial and Marketing plans
- Tentative pricing strategy
- Detailed feasibility analysis (which includes marketing, financial, technical, and
economic feasibility)
- Viability in the long run
- Unique selling proposition
• Following the presentation, the team will be subject to a question-answer session with the
panel of judges wherein they will be further evaluated based on:-
- Ability to handle the questions posed to the team
- Competitive strategy
- Clarity and viability of the business model
- Ability of the team to pitch the idea to investors and attract them with the unique
business idea
- Potential of the business to sustain the market and economic conditions
- Competitor analysis
- Effectiveness and financial feasibility of the business idea
• All participants are requested to adhere to the dress code prescribed for Day 2 – Traditional
Attire.

NOTE: All the participating teams holds complete rights of the business idea presented by them.
The business ideas will be owned by the respective colleges and Enactus JAIN (Deemed-to-be
University) assures to not plagiarize or use the idea in any manner or publish anywhere for
commercial purpose.
