HOW TO SAVE THE WORLD


1. Water pollution
- Pick up litter and throw it away in a trash bin
- Don’t throw trash in the ocean

- Blow or sweep fertilizer back onto the grass if it gets


onto paved areas
- If someone is throwing trash into the ocean, stop
them from throwing it into the ocean immediately

Fact: More than 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic has


been produced globally in the last 70 years, 6.3 billion
tons of which ended up in landfills or the natural
environment.

2. Air pollution
- Try to take public transportation if possible
- Use cleaner fuels and more fuel-efficient products
- Avoid burning leaves, trash and other materials
- Reduce or eliminate fireplace and wood stove use.

3. Land pollution
- Reduce, reuse, and recycle
- Volunteer for cleanups in your neighborhood
- Don’t use plastic products too much
- Plant trees and plants
- Buy and use fewer plastic products
- Throw plastic in the trash bin instead of the streets

4. Climate change
- Replace one regular light bulb with a compact
fluorescent light bulb
- Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more
often
- Use less hot water by taking shorter and cooler
showers and washing your clothes in cold or warm
instead of hot water
- Turn off electric devices when you are not using
them

5. Destruction
- Donate unopened food you don’t need and use
leftovers to make different meals instead of
discarding them
- Grow your own food or buy it locally.
- Replace standard products with energy efficient
versions
