IV. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
A. Daily Routine

Good Morning class! Good Morning sir!

Please remain standing and let us begin

our lesson with a prayer.

Who wants to lead? Sir!

Before you take your seat, please pick up

all the pieces of paper and plastic under
your chair.
None Sir.
Hanna is there any absent for today?

B. Review
Our topic yesterday sir is all about Types
Before we start our lesson for today let us of Rocks.
have our review first. What is our topic
yesterday?

Sir, Igneous Rock, sedimentary rock, and

Very good. So can you give me the three metamorphic rock.
types of rocks?

None Sir!
Nice one. Do you have any questions
about the types of rocks?

Okay very good. Now let us start our next

lesson.

C. MOTIVATION

The teacher will give an activity to all the

students. If the teacher will say the word Yes, Sir!
Earth’s Atmosphere, the student will stand
up, If anyone would not participate he/she
will be the cleaners for today.

D. LESSON PROPER
(The students will do the activity per
The class will be group into three. Each group)
group should have 15 pairs but they have
5 representatives. Each group will arrange
the layers of the atmosphere according to
its proper order and the pictures should be
put into the proper layer. And since not all
the players in the group will play, they can
still help by coming in front if ever the
answer of their team is wrong and no
shouting allowed.
Sir, about Atmosphere.
Based on our activity what is our lesson
for today?

Sir!
Very good! We will talk about the layers
and importance of the atmosphere. First,
do you have any idea about the
atmosphere? Any observation? Sir, Atmosphere makes life possible on
earth
Yes, Diane

Very good! Atmosphere makes life

possible on earth, it is made up of layers
surrounding the earth that holds the air
breathe, it protects us from outer space
and holds moisture gases and tiny
particles. In short the atmosphere is the
protective bubble we live in.
Question! What will happen to earth if we
don’t have atmosphere? Sir!

Any ideas from the class? Without an atmosphere, the earth would
be lifeless like the moon.
Yes, Jenny

Very good answer!

The Earth’s atmosphere, along with the
abundant liquid water on the Earth surface
is one factor to our planets unique place in
the solar system. Much of what makes
Earth exceptional depends on its Yes, sir!
atmosphere.

Do you know class, by creating oxygen

and food, plants have made an
environment that is favorable for animals?

Next, what are the composition of the Sir, the composition of the atmosphere is
Earth’s atmosphere? composed of several gasses.

Yes, Jerome The important gasses are, Nitrogen,

Oxygen, Argon, Carbon dioxide, Neon,
Helium, Hydrogen and Ozone.
And what are those several gasses?

Very good! By Volume, Nitrogen is 78 %

and oxygen is 21%. Together this gasses
make 99% volume of the atmosphere. The
rest 1% are many other gasses which are
very less in volume but they are also
important for us.

Nitrogen is used by the plants for their

survival but plant cannot take nitrogen
directly from the air. Bacteria that live in
the soil take nitrogen from the air and
change its form so that plants can use it.
Oxygen is vital for the survival of human
kind.
Green plants use Carbon dioxide to make
their food and release oxygen.

Sir, troposphere.
Next, what are the five layers of the
atmosphere? Sir, stratosphere.
Give one, Anthony Sir, mesosphere.

Very good, Yes Jamaica? Sir, thermosphere.

Very good, next April Sir, exosphere.

Very good, Yes Bryan

Very good, and lastly Jerry?

Very good class, those are the five layers

of the atmosphere, now we discuss it one
by one.

Troposphere
-the first layer of the atmosphere.
- it is also the one we were all living.
-it extends from the earth surface to about
4 to 12 miles (7 to 20 km) in the sky.
-in this layer as the height increases-
temperature decreases.
-it is the region of water, almost all
weather is present in this layer.
-hot air balloons fly in this layer.

Before we go to the next layer, we have

what we call tropopause,
Tropopause- is the upper part of the Sir!
troposphere.
Troposphere and tropopause are known
as the lower atmosphere. Stratosphere is the second layer of the
atmosphere.
Next we have Stratosphere, anyone from
the class who will define what is
stratosphere?

Yes, Judy Ann

Very good!

Stratosphere
- Is the second layer of the atmosphere.
- it starts above the troposphere and ends
about 31 miles (50 km) above ground.
- in this layer the temperature is increases
with height. Yes, Sir!
- the air here is very dry, and it is about a
thousand times thinner here than it is at
sea level.
- jet air craft and airplane are fly in this
layer.

Class do you know what is Ozone layer?

In the upper stratosphere has a high

concentration of ozone, a particularly
reactive form of oxygen. Sir, mesosphere is the third layer of the
atmosphere and it is the coldest part.
Ozone layer is responsible for absorbing
the ultraviolet radiation from the sun.

Next, we have mesosphere.

Jayson, what is mesosphere?

Okay very good, thankyou you may sit

down.

Mesosphere
-is the third layer of the atmosphere.
-starts at 31 miles (50 km) and extends to
53 miles (85 km) high.
-this is the coldest part of the atmosphere,
with the temperatures averaging about -
130 ˚F (-90˚C)
-in this layer the temperature is
decreasing with height.

Mesopause
-is the top of the mesosphere
-separate the mesosphere from the next Sir, ionosphere is above the mesosphere,
layer. where many atoms are ionized.
-meteors are burn in this layer.

And then we have also in this layer the

Ionosphere.
What is ionosphere Francis?

Very good! Thankyou!

Ionosphere Sir, the thermosphere.
-is very thin, and also responsible for
absorbing the most energetic photons
from the sun.
-it is above the mesosphere, where many
atoms are ionized.

What is the next layer of the atmosphere?

Angelo?

Okay, very good.

The next layer is the Thermosphere.

Thermosphere
-is the fourth layer of the atmosphere.
-extend from about 53 miles (85 km) to
between 310 and 620 miles (500 t0 1000
km).
-in this layer the temperature is increasing
with height. Sir, exosphere is the highest layer of the
-in fact this is where the space shuttles atmosphere.
flew and where international space station
orbits earth.
-this is also the layer where the auroras
occur.

The last layer of the atmosphere is the

exosphere.

Raymond, what is exosphere?

Very good! Thankyou!

Exosphere None sir!

-is the highest layer of the atmosphere.
-it is extremely thin and is where the
atmosphere merges into outer space.
-it is composed of very widely dispersed Yes, Sir!
particles of hydrogen and helium.

(students passing their paper)

Okay did you understand our topic for this Goodbye, Sir!
day class?
Any clarification, violent reactions and
suggestions? Class?
Okay, if none, let proceed to your quiz.

Class, bring ¼ sheet of your paper and

number it 1-10.

Pass your papers now class.

Okay, Class that’s for today.

See you tomorrow!!
