Introduction

Sex Education is one of the contentious problems in our country’s education system here in the

Philippines, whether sex education should be taught and included in the curriculum. Sexual health

education is “a lifelong process of acquiring information and forming attitudes, beliefs, and values about

such important topics as identity, relationships, and intimacy” (SIECUS, Guidelines, 2004, p.13).

Purpose

The goal of this paper is to educate young children including the students of Sacred Heart High

School to be knowledgeable about the importance of Sex Education in their lives as a teenager, and a

student. However, due to a lack of sex education, many young children including the students engage in

sexual activity without knowing how to have a safe sex. Students must gain knowledge in how to respect

themselves and others as well. The Inclusion of sex education in sacred heart high school in all grade

levels that are enrolled and are still learning at this school will provide young children and students with

believable and correct information to acquire knowledge, attitudes, responsibility and of course our health

that enable them to make the right choices in life.

Description

Sex education must introduce to many young people and students to deepen their understanding at the

early age. According to research, culturally sensitive and inclusive sex education helps young people

acquire the social and emotional skills they need to become compassionate and empathic adults. This

form of sex education early and often leads to awareness of sexual variety, dating and intimate partner

violence prevention, development of healthy relationships, and prevention of child sex abuse, enhanced

social/emotional learning, and greater media literacy. It also helps young individuals prevent unwanted

pregnancies and sexually transmitted illnesses.

Sex education works best when it’s:

• Taught by trained professionals

• Taught early and often throughout the lifespan

• Includes both information and skill-building activities

• Evidence-informed

• Inclusive of LGBTQ+ youth

• Rooted in anti-racism practices

• Trauma-informed

• Adapted to the needs of the community

Furthermore, Sex education creates more awareness that build information to spread towards young

children and students. We must all be educated regarding in this matter.

Support

This paper will be effective with the help of the school faculty, friends, family, and other students

and people to share their personal opinion about this topic. Also, take this to prevent negativity way from

your health for them to share their thoughts and many more.
