City. Currently, it has 13 barangays.

pilipinas.

- 1. Monasterio De Tarlac is located at the top of Mt. Resurrection in San Jose, Tarlac. It
is where the Relic of the Holy Cross can be seen.
- 2. This monastery is surrounded by lush greenery wherein you can enjoy an
unobstructed view of nature from the hilltop.
- 3. The foundation of Monasterio de Tarlac was laid at the end of 2000, where the first
Mass and the erection of the first cross were held.
- 4. On December 2, 2002, the 30-foot high statue of the Risen Christ was blessed.
- 5. Monasterio De Tarlac is run by the Servants of the Risen Christ (SRC) Monastic
Community, founded by Fr. Ronald Thomas "Archie" Cortez in 1998.

- 6. The Holy Cross relic was entrusted to Fr. Archie by Msgr. Volker Bauer who was then
the custodian of the relic, realizing that the monastic life in Europe is slowly dying.
- 7. In 2005, the holy cross came to the monastery.
- 8. The relic authenticated by a papal seal is believed to be part of the cross discovered
by Saint Helena in Jerusalem, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great.
- 9. It was believed that Saint Helena excavated three crosses in Jerusalem which were
believed to be the crosses used during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
- 10. This story of Saint Helena is not often told but for the Filipinos, it is remembered
through the month-long festival in May honoring the Virgin Mary, known to many as
Santacruzan or Flores de Mayo.
- 11. On January 30, 2007, the sacred relic of the Holy Cross was enshrined beneath the
chapel's altar, held by a golden arquetta adorned with religious symbols.
- 12. The baroque chapel with a striking façade is built in the middle of the secluded
compound, surrounded by a piazza remindful of the European churches.

- 6. Tarlac Recreational Park is also known as Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational
Complex. It is located in San Jose with a 78-hectare property. It offers many outdoor and
sports activities such as vast oval track, kayak or fish by the lagoon, or you can also
watch horses grazing. It has uphill and downhill landscapes where you can go for a bike.
Olympic-size pool, and lastly you can go for camping by its verdant grounds.
