Eigenvalues and Eigenvector Matrixces
• A set of linear algebraic equations
Some important properties of eigenvalues and eigenvectors
• If ) is an eigenvalue of * (for *+ = )+), then it is also eigenvalue of
*T. Also 1/) is an eigenvalue of *-1
• The eigenvectors, +i, associated with distinct eigenvalues )i of any
matrix *, are linearly independent. If all N eigenvalues are distinct, the
entire set of N+i are linearly independent
• Tow vector +i and +j are said to be orthogonal if +iT +j = 0.
• If +iT +i and +jT +j are unity, then these two vectors are said to be
orthonormal.
• The spectral radius, ,(*) of a matrix * is defined by
!(") = max | #i |
• Find the eigen values and eigenvectors of matrix A
