Find the Complex Zeros of Each Polynomial Function

f (x)=X ^4+13x ^2+36

The depressed equation can be factored by grouping

x4+13x2+36 =0

(x2) 2+13x2+36=0

x4+4x2+9x2+36 =0

x2(x2+4)+9(x2+4)=0 (factor x2 from x4+4x2 and from 9 from 9x2+36)

(x2+9)(x2+4)=0 (factor out the common factor x2+4)

x2+9=0 or x2+4 =0 (apply zero product-property)

x2=-9 or x2=-4

x=-3i,x=3i or x=-2i, x=2i

(The four complex zeros of f are {2i,-2i, 3i,-3i}
