John's proposal raises ethical implications; as such, I would appreciate John's offer. However, I
would decline to take his proposal. John tried to be a good buddy, so thank you for that, but I
would turn down the offer because it's wrong to inflate sales for an individual’s own gain. I
would choose this response because it's the ethical thing to do. It is wrong for anyone to make a
fake transaction in an effort to win a trip to Mexico for their own gain. Perhaps if you were
honest with your boss and told him that you didn't make the sale but tried to play fair in the
competition, he would appreciate you as an employee more. Because the client could sense that
you were attempting to be honest despite the losses, he would also have more respect for you.
In the scenario, John wants to encourage one to deceive the company by pretending to make a
sale when in reality the sale is not real. Accepting John's offer puts one in an ethical dilemma as
you win a trip to Mexico and win the competition using deceptive methods. Cheating has huge
ethical implications as it creates distrust. John’s proposal is likewise subject to the problems of
lying. Again, it is generally believed that honoring a commitment is morally required. Cheating
denies individuals with genuine contributions an equal opportunity. Therefore, the ethical
implications in this case are lying and cheating. This undermines integrity, which is crucial in
sales as it creates distrust with future customers. Accepting John's proposal also makes a bribery
How will you respond to your colleagues if they find out how you won the contest?

Winning the contest using deceptive methods would have huge implications for my relationship
with my colleagues. First, my colleagues would be disappointed to learn that I lied to them in
order to win the trip to Mexico and $500 and denied them a fair and equal opportunity (case
study, P.29). To redeem myself in the eyes of my colleagues, I would respond to them by first
apologizing for my actions. I will also make sure to tell them I will sell the products that I failed
to sell to hit the target. Deception in workplaces undermines trust, and this could cause isolation
was my fault that caused the hurt. I will also pledge to them that I will return the prize money
Will you share with your supervisor how you won the contest?
There are ethical issues that arise from using deceptive measures in business. Thus, it will be
difficult to communicate with the supervisor on how I won the contest. However, even though it
is humiliating to share how you won the contest, it would be prudent to tell the supervisor. I will
share the story with my supervisor and I will apologize for my actions. My conduct violates
business policy and creates an ethical issue that could result in me losing my job. Therefore, it is
vital that I express my reasons for making such a hurtful and selfish decision that undermines the
company's integrity. By doing so, I will help to clear my mind and try to rebuild trust with my
supervisor and my colleagues. I will let him know that I’m willing to accept any punishment for
my actions.
