Position Paper about Legalizing Abortion

Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by removing the fetus before

it can survive outside the uterus. Abortion means to kill a new life and to
endanger woman’s body. Abortion is one of the most controversial topics
not only in the Philippines but also around the world. This topic is a very
sensitive matter and everyone has a different point of view regarding this
matter. Abortion is all about death and life. Abortion represents the
unjustifiable destruction of a human life. It is an issue in today’s
generation especially in our society, many people are agreeing and
disagree about taking someone’s life away. Even though women have
now the legal rights to decide what they should do to their bodies and to
decide whether to end their babies’ life. I strong believe that it is morally
wrong to take someone’s life away. There are still many ways other than
abortions.

Abortion remains illegal and should not be legalized here in the

Philippines. Abortion is not safe to every women’s health. The Philippines’
revised a Penal Code of 1930 is an almost century old law that defines
and sees the abortion as a crime/murder. Under the law, women who
found to have aborted their fetuses will face imprisonment for two to six
years. And also, to the doctors and nurses caught performing abortions or
providing assistance are also subject to harsh punishment by the law.
The Philippine constitution also imposes the Article 11 Of the Philippine
Constitution Section 12 that states to have an equally protect the life of
the mother and the life on unborn conception. The life of the unborn is
entitled to protection at and from conception. Abortion therefore, is an
unconstitutional. The government's anti-abortion campaigns and stands
must be strengthened. In order to eliminate such abortion practices, the
government should strengthen the law. The government must assist and
provide comprehensive assistance to victims in order for them to
overcome depression, mental and psychological stress, and avoid
abortion, as well as guide them on how to raise their babies.
This Abortion is a very controversial topic in the Philippines
regardless of being a religious country. For me, I strongly disagree to the
abortion because no one has the right to take someone’s life. Life begins
with conception, and aborting the fetus in its earliest stage, will end its
life. Abortion disposes the unborn of the life and experiences it should
have undergone if it were delivered alive. I suggest that if the baby is
unwanted, why not give it for adaptation. Everyone has the right to live.
Life, in all its forms must be protected and respected. Everyone must be
given an opportunity to enjoy and experience life.

Others believe that having and carrying out an abortion is the

solution to this problem. Abortion, in my opinion, is not the solution to
this problem. However, I believe that if anyone should be punished as a
result of this, it should be the perpetrators. The unborn child must not be
harmed since it did not want and choose to be made. The unborn child is
just a product of uncertain event. I firmly stand to my belief that abortion
is illegal of taking an innocent life away. It is morally wrong to abort
because killing the unborn conception is also a killing of human being If
the mother does not want to keep the baby, simply give it to an
adaptation program in which the child is given the opportunity to live,
enjoy, and experience life. So, I strongly disagree to the legalization of
abortion.

I believe that the “Fair Approach Standard” suits to this issue

because they treated all women who are get pregnant whether
planned/unplanned equally. Every woman has a fairness approach. All
human has the rights to protect and respect life. They give the rights to
the mother and unborn child the rights to live, enjoy and experience life.
