Giving examples

Linkers are words or phrases that connect words or


sentences. We use some linkers to give examples.
Some of the most common are: for example, such
as and like.

For example
It means 'por ejemplo'. 'For
example' is followed by a comma
and a full sentence.

CHILDREN SHOULD EAT LESS JUNK FOOD.


FOR EXAMPLE, THEY SHOULD AVOID
EATING BURGERS AND CHIPS.

Such as
It means 'tal como'. 'Such as' is in
the middle of the sentence,
followed by a noun or more.

CHILDREN SHOULD AVOID EATING JUNK


FOOD SUCH AS BURGERS AND CHIPS.

Like
It means 'como'. like is followed
by a noun or a pronoun to say
that two things are similar.

HE'S LIKE A FATHER TO ME.
