versions of their magazines or sections.

of time than newspapers because of their
higher printing quality.
• A reader of a magazine may keep an issue if it
contains particularly interesting information.
• People may pass magazines on to their friends
and family which will increase exposure of your
advert.

3. Real Surpasses Virtual
• There’s plenty to attract our attention on
websites and social media but sitting down with
a hot drink and a magazine is different.
• It’s a quiet, relaxed time we have awarded
ourselves. There isn’t any competition; we’ll just
look at what interests us, and that’s a great
opportunity for advertisers.
PROS AND CONS OF MAGAZINE
ADVERTISING
PROS :

• Digital advertisements come and go. Companies
sometimes must keep paying to ensure their ads
are well-placed on websites and repeated every
day.
• Magazines, on the other hand, are generally issued
weekly or monthly. They have a longer “shelf life,”
as they sit in doctors’ waiting rooms, magazine
racks, boutiques, malls, and supermarkets. A
magazine left in a doctor’s office will be read by
countless patients for many months, and your ad
can be seen by many of them.
PROS AND CONS OF MAGAZINE
ADVERTISING
CONS :
• In a newspaper, every page has some significance.
For example, the first page, the sports page, the
centre page, the business review page and so on.
Therefore, the advertiser can select the page where
he thinks the advertisement should appear. Such
an advantage is not available in the case of
magazines.
• Unlike newspapers, magazines have only limited
circulation. As a result, the advertisement may not
reach many.
PROS AND CONS OF MAGAZINE
ADVERTISING
CONS :
• The price of the magazine is generally high.
Therefore, not many people buy it.
• These days, people hardly find time to go
through even newspapers. Only a very few
people go through magazines.
• Advertisements in magazines cannot be brought
out as quickly as it is possible in the case of
newspapers.

advertise in magazines.
LIMITATIONS OF MAGAZINE

where repetitive advertising is essential.

quarterly, the advertiser cannot communicate
his message frequently and quickly.

is elevated.

attention. They may not give all the important
information. They also have Subtitles. This is a
second title that gives more information about
the article.
Features of magazine
Size :
• One of the biggest and most obvious factors in
cost will be the size of your ad. Unless you’re
dealing with a magazine that has no interest in
making money, larger ads are going to cost
more than smaller ads.
• Ads are typically sold as fractions of a page. Full-
page and half-page ads are exactly how they
sound. Quarter-page ads may be horizontal or
vertical.
Features of magazine
Size :
• When looking at the rate card you will see
production values that identify the size in inches
as well as by fraction of a page, and you will
notice an obvious pricing difference between
local and national publishers.
Features of magazine
Frequency :
• Magazines charge less per ad if you commit to
running ads in more than one issue. For Eg, if an
Ad cost you 3,000 while that same ad, if you run
in five issues, it might only cost you 1,800.
• Understand that you will have to sign a contract
and be obligated to pay for all five issues.
• Some magazines charge a set-up fee so, if on
the fourth running of that ad you decide you
want to change your header, you might be
charged for it.
