My steam account has been hacked: what to do?

Hackers always tend to find ways to break into computer systems in order to gain data
accessibility in an illegal manner. Steam accounts are not an exception and in a blink of
an eye, you can lose everything in it. That being the case, what are the possible
solutions to get back to your steam account?
Check your email account and once you get a set of emails from Stream, as much
as possible, abruptly lock your stream account by clicking “Lock my account”
button in the first email you have received. This action will cause everything to
halt including trading and any other activities the hacker might do until you
obtain your account back.
However, it sometimes does not really work well since most of the time, hackers are
quick and they possibly have already changed your account’s personal information
including your password. But do not lose hope for there is a backup solution for that.
In the next email you have received that says “The email address associated with
your Steam account has been successfully changed” which the hacker definitely
executed, click the link in the lower left part of the message. It will direct you to
the Steam Support page. Click the “Help, I can’t sign in” button.
Click the “My account was stolen and I need help recovering it” button then click
“change my password”. You can either enter your name, email address or phone
number which is associated with your Steam account.
After that, you will be directed to a new page where you can notice the unfamiliarity of
the email address of the new user of your Steam account.
Click “I no longer have access to this email address”. Try to sign in your account
with the use of your password but it would definitely display “Passwords do not
match” since it was surely changed by the hacker. So, click “I forgot my
password”.
From there, you are asked to provide as much information as you can before you can
recover your account such as a new email address. Its purpose is to make sure you are
the real owner of the Steam account. The more details you provide, the better chance of
getting back your steam account.
On the other hand, if you have tried purchasing games on the account, it would be of a
very big help if you use PayPal for the reason that you can put your PayPal account
hold the name and an invoice of a steam purchase which directly links you to that
account which is a great advantage if you have that. However, if you have not, there is
nothing to worry, you can still send it.
Moreover, there is a box below where you can address anything you want to say about
the issue you are dealing with. It is not actually a required task but the more specific
details you give, the better.
After you have filled up information as many as possible. Go to your email and check if
you have received a message from “Your Stream Support help request”. Enter the code
they have given you. Once you have done that, you will receive an email that says
“Stream Support has received your help request”.
The next day, you will definitely receive new set of emails. Just provide the required
information necessary like adding new password, phone number and such.
The moment you receive an email where you have already retrieved your Steam
account, it is very important to secure it again by having a new password. Never forget
to add your mobile authenticator back so that there will be no chance of this happening
again
When you have the Authenticator back again, you have a 15-day trade ban wherein you
are not allowed to trade items. But here’s the catch, you are able to recover your Steam
account.
