Based on the readings:

A. Give the definition and the difference between misinformation and disinformation?
(10 points)

Disinformation is When people create false or misleading information with the goal of
making money, gaining political power, damaging someone's reputation, or maliciously
causing difficulty or harm. Misinformation on the other hand is when people share
disinformation for the purpose of trying to help or informing, but don’t know it’s misleading
and false information.
Disinformation has an intent to harm while Misinformation are people who have just been
mislead or misinformed.

B. Give the definition of the following: (5 points each)


- Propaganda
To achieve a particular agenda, selective presentation of information,
persuasive framing, and emotional appeal are used. Black propaganda
employs false or deceptive material with the source disguised or
misrepresented, whereas white propaganda uses accurate, albeit selectively
presented, information from accurately identified sources.

- conspiracy theories
an attempt to explain damaging or sad occurrences by blaming them on the
activities of a small, strong group
Such answers contradict the widely held story about those events.

- Weaponization

Politicians are exploiting fake news to smear independent news organizations


and weaken public confidence in journalism.
The Internet and social media are being used to spread large-scale
propaganda and mass manipulation techniques.

- Orchestrated

with each and every aspect meticulously planned, sometimes behind closed
doors. Orchestrated disinformation is a spread of misleading and wrong
information that is well-planned and oriented or organized and a funded plan.

- Rumor

a widely circulated narrative or assertion that lacks confirmation or confidence


as to facts; rumor or hearsay

C. Among the seven types of mis/disinformation choose at least three (3) types and give a
short explanation how dangerous are these types of mis/disinformation in the upcoming
2022 national election campaign period. (5 points each)

1. Manipulated Content
2. False Content
3. Fabricated Content

These three mis/disinformation are the most dangerous types for the upcoming 2022 national
election campaign period. Because these are planned , oriented and funded plans to spread
misleading or fake information to drive the media crazy on certain target politicians.
