Data Management Senior Analyst (JD51/DMA)


Working within the Intelligence Directorate, supporting the Team Leader to:
Job Purpose
o Deliver analytic support to further improve regulatory activity and quality
of publications.
o Deliver high quality analytical customer-focused support, advice and
information.
o Provide the ongoing query resolution for CQC’s stakeholders. Required
to engage with multiple teams across CQC directorates to provide CRM
database support with regard to Registration and Inspection.
o Committed to using and producing intelligence to make a positive
difference  to people’s lives

Accountabilities  Delivery of analytic services and products on schedule and within agreed
resources, ensuring that products are of high quality and valuable to
CQC. This may include the ongoing maintenance and development of
business as usual products and services.
 Work closely with key internal stakeholders to define and supply data by
having a clear understanding of data requirements and how regulatory
policies affect Registration and Inspection methodologies.

 Autonomously undertake and lead all aspects of provision of intelligence


products and services including:
 Design of systems, processes and tools for modelling, analysis and
interpretation of data appropriate to the specific project being worked on.
This may include the development of methods to make business as
usual more effective or efficient.
 Design and deliver quality assurance, dissemination and reporting
processes.
 Undertake, lead and monitor implementation of modelling, analysis,
presentation, dissemination and quality assurance as appropriate.
 Ensure information used in analysis is current, timely, quality assured
and robust.
 Leave a clear and concise audit trail that will be of use to others doing
future analysis.
 Liaise with internal data management and data quality experts to ensure
that the correct information is used for each piece of work.
 Draw appropriate attention to significant outcomes of analysis.
 Provide intellectual leadership and coaching as appropriate to staff
working with the post holder.
 Ongoing development of systems and methodology in response to new
developments in data and strategy. Specifically to:
 Develop and evaluate a range of supporting analytical tools in relation to
data collection, analysis and innovative dissemination.
 Keep up to date with developments in care and information analysis.
 Have the appropriate knowledge, skills and experience to actively
promote diversity and equality of opportunity, treat everyone with dignity
and respect and avoid unlawful discrimination.

Specific skills  High level of educational attainment, a good first degree or equivalent
and experience experience.
 Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and previous
experience of working in an analytical role.
 In-depth knowledge of Excel in addition to experience of using large
relational databases with the ability to identify, query and resolve data
quality issues.
 Line management of team may be required including:
o Setting daily and weekly work requirements for team, balancing
demands for resources and particular skills and experience of
staff.
o Monitoring delivery of direct reports against agreed timescales
and quality standards.
 Coaching/intellectual leadership in analytical, information management,
technical and reporting technique
 Excellent communication skills, both written and oral with the ability to
present and communicate information to a range of audiences with
emphasis on stakeholder management.

 Understanding of how intelligence is used in a risk based regulatory


model.
 Knowledge of an understanding of health and/or social care data sets.
 Experience of using management information systems to ensure an
integrated information approach.
 Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams.
