Assignment 2

For some, artificial intelligence (AI) is a source of resistance, while for others, it is

a miracle answer. It's everywhere and affects every industry. Certain industries, on the

other hand, have a harder time capitalizing on technological advancements. It is the

situation of the media, which is less solvent and active than the areas of finance and

health care in terms of equipping themselves with the tools they need to incorporate

technology. Automation of trade processes and customer relations, social network

monitoring and listening, information verification, predictive success analytics, video

creation and postproduction, voice assistants and conversations, automated drafting,

personalization, recommendation, optimization of content broadcasting, emotional

tracking and accessibility are all examples of AI applications in the written press,

cinema, radio, television, and advertising. AI may also assist journalists in analyzing

data and detecting trends based on a variety of sources of information, ranging from

traditional open sources to new sources such as Wikileaks data. AI's ability to scan

and evaluate large amounts of data allows for continuous monitoring of social media

trends and the detection of weak signals. In this way, it helps to fulfill one of the public

service's missions: making it easy for the public to access the information they need

to be better informed. Long-form pieces, in-depth analysis, and investigative

journalism are all areas where AI may assist human reporters. Now, AI-written articles

are restricted to simple and formulaic themes such as stock market outcomes, sports

game scores, and so on. By transcribing audio and video interviews, AI can save

reporter’s time. It translates audio data to text, allowing journalists to concentrate on

gaining insights rather than transcribing audio or video interviews. When a pattern or

anomaly arises from big data, AI can analyze massive datasets and provide journalists
2

notifications. It can give content creators and publishers tools to spot fake news and

reduce its influence on their audience. AI systems can help journalists enhance their

operations and processes. It can assist firms in streamlining their dispersed

procedures for gathering data, contacting sources, and backend activities such as

communicating with ads. Bias is a global problem that the news media cannot avoid.

However, because AI's machine learning algorithms are trained to prioritize accuracy,

it helps to reduce the human's subjective interpretation of data.

With schools still closed due to COVID-19, the IT company claims that their

platform, which incorporates digital learning advances into an all-in-one platform, will

help over 21.7 million children. Their contents are engaging, but some students may

find them difficult to grasp. The new platform combines gamification with personalized

learning tools, as well as advances in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and

artificial intelligence (AI). Makati Science High School, Makati High School, and Pitogo

High School were the first schools to receive the technology. The pilot phase will last

a year. When broken down, a student's purpose is straightforward: get a degree or

credential that verifies their expertise. By expediting the educational process, AI can

assist students in achieving this aim. AI may have a huge influence on students'

educational journeys by offering access to the relevant courses, enhancing contact

with professors, and freeing up more time to focus on other parts of life. When broken

down, a student's purpose is straight for Students now have a tailored approach to

learning programs thanks to AI, which is based on their own unique experiences and

interests. To ensure that students get the most out of their education, AI may adjust to

their level of expertise, learning speed, and intended goals. Furthermore, AI-powered
3

systems may examine students' prior learning histories, detect deficiencies, and

recommend courses that will help them develop, allowing for a highly personalized

learning experience. While it is typical for kids to require additional assistance outside

of the classroom, many teachers do not have the time to aid children after school. In

these situations, AI instructors and chatbots are ideal solutions. While no chatbot can

completely replace a teacher, AI technologies can assist students in honing their

abilities and improving weak areas outside of the classroom. They give a one-on-one

learning experience without the teacher being available at all hours of the day to

answer queries. An AI-powered chatbot, for example, may respond to student inquiries

in 2.7 seconds. All students may study anytime and anywhere thanks to AI-powered

tools. Each student learns at their own speed, and kids may experiment with what

works best for them without having to wait for an educator. Furthermore, students from

all over the world may receive a high-quality education without having to pay for travel

or living expenses. Given the quantity of activities on their daily to-do lists, most

instructors and staff aren't hesitant to confess they struggle with time management.

Educators want to spend more time one-on-one with students, doing research, and

continuing their own education, but many don't have the time. By automating chores,

assessing student performance, and eliminating the educational gap, AI can help

instructors save time.

According to Anna Cacho-Asunto (DOST, Dec. 7, 2020) Artificial Intelligence (AI)

has opened new possibilities for innovation, particularly in agriculture in the

Philippines. Useful data may be created using AI systems to monitor, evaluate, and

optimize several elements that impact farmer yields, including as pests, water, soil,
4

temperature, and weather. The Gul.AI Project is a DOST – Advanced Science and

Technology Institute program that brings together the concepts of information and

communications technology and agriculture, particularly in the field of agricultural

science. Plant box components with inbuilt sensors are used in the Gul.AI system to

collect data. Water pH, relative humidity, temperature, brightness, and live image of

the monitored region are among the metrics collected. These systems send the

information to an online web service housed by a high-performance computer center,

which analyzes it. To build a plant growth model, data analysis will include the use of

artificial intelligence (AI) and statistics. Furthermore, the platforms may be operated

and monitored remotely using a smartphone application. Users will be able to profile

tests that will be done in each plant box using the app. Artificial Intelligence is being

used in agriculture to help produce healthier crops, manage pests, monitor soil and

growing conditions, organize data for farmers, reduce labor, and enhance a variety of

agricultural-related jobs along the food supply chain. Farmers are finding it difficult to

determine the best time to sow seed as climatic conditions change and pollution rises.

Using Artificial Intelligence, farmers can analyze weather conditions using weather

forecasting, which helps them plan the type of crop that can be grown and when seeds

should be sown. Drone-based Ariel imaging solutions for crop health monitoring have

been introduced by SkySqurrel Technologies. In this method, the drone collects data

from fields, which is subsequently sent to a computer via USB drive and examined by

professionals. This firm analyzes the taken photographs with algorithms and provides

a full report on the farm's current health. It assists farmers in identifying pests and

germs, as well as the timely application of pest management and other measures.

Artificial intelligence in agriculture not only assists farmers in automating their

agricultural operations, but also changes to precision cultivation for improved crop
5

output and quality while using less resources. Companies that improve machine

learning or Artificial Intelligence-based products or services, such as training data for

agriculture, drones, and automated machine manufacturing, will benefit from

technological advancements in the future, which will help the world deal with food

production issues for a growing population.

In the media and entertainment world, where it is now sweeping its way in, artificial

intelligence is largely recognized and valued. In this profession, tasks like generating,

designing, and editing become difficult to complete manually. The effective application

of data modeling and machine learning reduces it greatly. Using sophisticated

Algorithms, it makes analyzing, synching, and editing considerably easier and error-

free. Everything is just a click away, from offering incredible VFX, AI, and Talent

analytics in movies and games to the simplicity of streaming on sites like Netflix,

YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Kumu and many more. This generation of "Gamers" and

"Netflix and Chill" will be unable to spend their lives only on these entertainment

resources, which serve as a source of distraction from our everyday struggles, and

this is where Artificial Intelligence will prevail. Artificial Intelligence AI employs a

number of advanced algorithms to comprehend the core relationship of this

information and makes the generation of subtitles much easier, faster, and accessible.

It's extremely handy when the subtitles need to be translated into a variety of

languages, like in regional television shows and films. It also assists in adjusting the

number of words or sentences that should be displayed on the screen by calculating

the number of words or sentences that should be displayed on the screen and

generating subtitles depending on the results. Artificial Intelligence technology, which

6

is the smartest to detect, responds to the demands of the user's viewing conditions by

compressing audio or video in line with their internet speed, providing them the best

visual and sound quality with the least amount of disturbance. This is particularly

noticeable and valuable in areas where there is no reliable internet connection, and it

never fails to make consumers happy.

In governance, artificial intelligence has a variety of applications. It may be used to

advance public policy goals in areas like emergency services, health, and welfare, as

well as to make it easier for the public to communicate with the government through

the employment of virtual assistants. Artificial intelligence applications in the public

sector are vast and developing, according to the Harvard Business Review, with early

tests going place all around the world. According to Hila Mehr of Harvard University's

Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, AI in government is not new;

in the late 1990s, postal systems used machine algorithms to recognize handwriting

on envelopes and autonomously route messages. The use of AI in government has

several advantages, including increased efficiency that result in cost savings, such as

by lowering the number of front-office employees, and reduced potential for corruption.

It does, however, come with hazards. Machine learning and deep learning, computer

vision, speech recognition, and robotics are at the heart of AI in government services.

When use, these strategies produce actual, measurable results. Natural language

processing collects important data from intelligence sources and connects it, allowing

analysts to discover actionable insights. Predicting failure rates ensures that military

equipment is adequately maintained and ready to deploy when needed. Cyber

anomaly detection has the potential to transform government cybersecurity tactics.

7

The possibilities are limitless, yet they're only just getting started. According to Intel,

new methodologies and tactics for government digital transformation are being

investigated. AI is a journey for every business. However, AI can help governments

and the public sector do more, satisfy employees and citizens, and make unimaginable

progress. Organizations may ensure their success by meticulously preparing each

stage with the assistance of technology and deployment professionals. In the public

sector, AI is still in its infancy, and it's time to get ready. The long-awaited future has

arrived.
