Topic- Poverty and Inequality

Instagram Page – movement_pai

Why we chose this topic- we saw the recent increase in the level of poverty because of the covid 19
pandemic and that more and more people were becoming homeless because of unemployment .so we
decided to choose poverty and inequality as our topic as we wanted to make people more aware about
it.

What we did- we made an Instagram page and posted once or twice a week and the posts included
posters and information on poverty. It also includes the solutions and measures to reduce poverty. We
interviewed 4 teacher and two students with a help of a detailed questionnaire which had had 6 to 7
questions and made a ppt to present in the webinar, the PPT had 9 slides and we all presented 3 slides.
We also made a video compiling all the work we did.

What I did- I was handling the Instagram account so I made 4 posts including posters and information
gathered by me. I collected data and images to include in the posts. Th uploads included a poster about
how inequality is one of the main reasons of poverty, slogans on poverty, solutions to reduce poverty
and each post had a different caption with a famous quote and a lot of information. I also presented
three slides in the webinar stating some facts on the poverty rate of India, the two types of poverty and
the relationship between poverty and inequality. I also helped with all the interviews.

What more could have been done- I think that we could have interviewed representatives of some
NGOs and we tried our best to do it but the covid 19 pandemic was resurfacing and then the schedules
could not match and we all couldn’t be there at the same time. We tried to the interviews online but
there was some network issues or problems with audio and video.

How we did it- so in the beginning we were all collecting data on the topic and the we had a few
meetings discussing the plan of action and we discussed that we are going to be making a video and
doing a webinar alongside an Instagram page. Then we planned how we were going to make the video.
It was decided that one of us was going to get the equipment to school and there we would proceed to
interview a few students and teachers. We specifically interviewed students who were interested in
economics to get an economical point of view. Then we made a PPT for the webinar and the PPT
included the information about problems that people have to face because of poverty and the types of
poverty and the types of poverty and how people were forced to live in poverty. the PPT was fact based.
We were collecting the data, images and slogans for the Instagram page side by side and making sure
that we compile it and post it twice a week. The posts included a short video on poverty and 2 posters
and 3 pages of information on how poverty effected people’s daily lives and how inequality was one of
the main causes for it. Finally in the video we have included all the interviews and the data from the ppt
and the Instagram page.
