Example 17.

1
A surface with an area, A of 0.5 cm2 is placed in uniform magnetic field with its plane perpendicular toward the
magnetic field. The Magnetic flux density,B at the surface is 0.5T. Calculate the magnetic flux, at that surface.
Solution:

Example 17.2
A uniform magnetic flux density 5.0 X 10-3T is perpendicular toward a plane of coil with radius 2.0cm and have
100 turns . Calculate the magnetic flux, of the coil.
Solution:

Example 17.3
A circular loop with an area of 0.0049 m2 is placed in a uniform magnetic field of magnitude field of magnitude
0.60 T. The normal to the loop makes an angle of 42.0o with the direction of the magnetic field B. Calculate the
magnetic flux through the loop.

Example 17.4
A uniform magnetic field of 5.0 mT passes through a circular loop of wire of diameter 6.0 cm, and the field makes
an angle of 30o with the normal line to the surface. Find the magnitude flux through the loop.
What is Electromagnetic
induction???

Faraday’s Law

Magnetic flux can be

changed in
three ways;
Lenz’s
Law

Lenz’s law is consistent with Principle

of Conservation of energy.
The electrical energy  mechanical
energy

An equation representing Faraday’s Law and Lenz’s Law is as

follows :
Derive and use the equation for induced e.m.f. in a linear
conductor and in a rotating coil.
