Geographical location. Kazakhstan is located at the junction of two continents -
Europe and Asia, between 45 and 87 degrees east longitude, 40 and 55 degrees north
latitude. The geographical center of the European-Asian subcontinent is located in
Kazakhstan (at the intersection of the 78th meridian with the 50th parallel) - in the
epicenter of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear test site.
Astana is the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Year of foundation: 1830 Area:
722 sq. km. Population: more than 850 thousand people. Ethnic composition:
Kazakhs, Russians, Ukrainians and other nationalities live on the territory of the
capital. Attractions: Bayterek is a tower that symbolizes three worlds (underground,
terrestrial and celestial). The Nur-Astana Mosque is a landmark of Kazakhstan, built
in 2005. The elegance of the East is woven into the ensemble of glass, concrete,
steel, granite and alucobond. The Palace of Peace and Harmony is a building built in
the shape of a pyramid, popularly called the "Eighth Wonder of the World". The
height of this construction is 62 meters. This architectural structure has become the
main tourist attraction. Atakemen is a miniature Kazakhstan. This is a 3D relief map
of Kazakhstan, where you can get acquainted with almost all the sights of the
country.
The climate in the Republic of Kazakhstan is mainly sharply continental, dry. Large
temperature range in winter and summer. Winters are mostly cold and long, and
summers are hot, dry and short.
The most favorable time to visit the Republic of Kazakhstan is considered to be the
beginning of autumn and the end of spring, when the country has pleasant not hot
weather. It's too hot in summer and very cold in winter. However, it is best to visit
ski resorts in January and February.
The most popular place in Kazakhstan is Astana, the capital of this state. Only in this
city alone you can find many attractions, such as the Baiterek Tower, the Ak-Orda
Presidential Palace, the aquarium, the Kokshetau National Park. Atameken Park is a
large relief of Kazakhstan, where you can get acquainted with all the sights of the
country. Ulytau Mountains attract tourists, which are the historical center of the
Kazakhs. Lake Balkhash is famous for containing both fresh and salty waters. The
ridges of the Trans-Ili Alatau are perfect for horseback riding and mountaineering,
cycling and hiking. Khan-Tengri Peak is suitable for fans of extreme sports. Tourists
who prefer eco-tourism, it is advisable to visit the National Park "Altyn Emel". This
park is the largest in the country. History lovers should definitely visit the most
ancient cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Taraz, Turkestan and Shymkent. And
also you should visit the ancient region of Semirechye.
Kazakhstan Canyon is a famous place that must be visited when arriving in this
country. It is called the Charyn Canyon. It is famous for such places as "Valley of
Castles" and "Dragon Gorge". The famous "Silk Road", connecting East Asia with
the Mediterranean in ancient times, should certainly be visited by every tourist who
arrived in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is also famous for its relict groves.
As in any other country, tourists should definitely visit the capital of Kazakhstan –
the city of Astana, which is famous for its many attractions.
In Kazakhstan, there are Southern, Western, Northern, Central and Eastern regions.
The tourist centers of the Southern district are Alma-Ata, Dzhambul, Kyzyl-Orda,
Turkestan. Western district - Atyrau and Aktobe. Northern – Pavlodar and Kostanay.
Central – Astana, Karaganda, the region of Lake Balkhash. Vostochny – Altai
Mountains, Irtysh River.
Due to the healing properties of the waters, Borovye Lakes, a group of lakes in the
Northern part of Kazakhstan, are considered one of the most popular resorts. The
Medeo sports complex, located in a high-mountain tract, is rightfully considered the
famous resort of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is the world's largest alpine complex
for winter sports. Sanatoriums Saryagach Alma-Arasan, Burabay, Zerenda, Karkara,
Alakol, Bayanaul are also considered popular resorts. Popular ski resorts are Charyn
Canyon, Zimbulak, Taragan, Akbulak.
