RATIONALE: As a 2015 article in the online
journal Nature explains, epi-marks affect “how
genes are expressed, but not the information
they contain” (Reardon, 2015, para. 3). They can
be inherited, but they can “also be altered by
environmental factors such as smoking, and are
not always shared by identical twins”.
RATIONALE: This statistic shows the shift in
Americans' views from 1977 to 2019 as to
whether people are born gay or lesbian, or their
sexual orientation develops due to upbringing
and environmental factors. In 1977, 13 percent of
respondents stated that they believe people
were born gay or lesbian. In 2019, 49 percent of

2.TITLE: Aren’t Homosexuals “Born That Way”?
RATIONALE: Twins study by Dr. J. Michael Bailey of
Northwestern University and Dr.
Richard Pillard of the Boston University School of
Medicine. These two researchers published a
study of twins raised in the same homes. The was a
sets of identical twins that the one brother was a
homosexual they found that there has 52% chance
that the other twin was a homo sexual as well 22%
for fraternal (non-identical) twins and only 9% for
non-twin brothers. There conclusion was that the
authors drew from these comparisons was this: that
the incidence of homosexuality becomes higher as
the genetic link between brothers becomes closer.

or choice?
RATIONALE: for Ifeanyi Paul - It is a thing of
the mind Parents will definitely not lead
anyone astray. There are people who are not
psychologically balanced. They see people
going right and they decide to go left. From
what I’ve seen in movies and also read in
books, I think it has a lot to do with
psychology. If anyone is exhibiting such traits
and he’s not quickly rehabilitated, it could
cause severe damage. You can’t really say it is
nurtured because I don’t believe parents
would encourage such from their children to
go into homosexuality, given the stigma
society places on it.
