As I began thinking about my updated project plan, I went over the feedback that I had received on my initial plan. The
feedback was basically all positive with a few minor suggestions to help with the look of the plan. This was great, except
it left me needing to figure out how to improve the plan without any real suggestions. I decided to go over the rubric,
which I did multiple times and then I went back and re‐read several of the assignments. Afterward I went through my
project plan again. I spent a lot of time contemplating what I should do to improve the plan and in the end I decided
that while some changes were needed it would be best to keep the majority of the plan the way that I originally wrote
it.
Since making the initial plan I made regular updates to it as products were completed. This allowed me to change the
original time estimates to bring them in line with how long it was actually taking to complete each product. One of my
strengths is that I can read extremely fast with a high retention rate so I was often able to do the reading in much less
time than I had budgeted for. The exceptions to this were on a few products that required more introspection so I
spent more time contemplating my comments on those. However overall the time I actually used was less on the
reading products so I adjusted my time estimates in the plan going forward. I also realized that because I was updating
the plan and not creating an entirely new one, as I had originally thought, I was able to drastically lower the amount of
time budgeted for the updated project plan. After re‐reading the rubric I realized that I needed to be keeping track of
the difference in the amount of time that I budgeted and the amount of time that I actually used. As result I added
another column to the plan to log and keep track of the difference in actual time used.
Finally I changed some of the tasks and subtasks to reflect what I had learned. In the products that required reading
and responses I realized that I was making anywhere from four to six responses to the reading and three or four
responses to comments by my classmates so I changed the tasks to reflect that. I also realized that several of the video
quizzes did not require a written essay response so I deleted that task on several of the tasks. I also changed the
subtasks on the Updated Project Plan product to reflect that I was re‐examine the rubric and re‐reading the chapters as
well as adding a subtask to add and complete the column on the difference in the amount of time used versus time
budgeted.
I find it interesting how much time I actually spent thinking about the plan and what changes to make in it, and that I
actually enjoyed doing that. At first I was a bit intimidated by the idea of making and then remaking the plan, but I
realized that by following the rubric given it was a very doable task. I also was pleased to find that the updated plan just
naturally evolved out of the original plan. That is something that I did not anticipate when the project started. I believe
that following the project plan as it is now written will allow me to successfully complete the project.
