Before the Lesson

The teacher will ask the pupils about polygons and they are going to
answer it based on the clues given by the teacher.

1. I am a polygon with four equal sides and four right angles? What

3. I have two long parallel sides and two short parallel sides and four
right angles? What shape am I? ____________
4. I am a quadrilateral with two pairs of opposite sides parallel but I

B. Establishing a purpose for the In every pupil, the teacher will give two kinds of plane figures. They
lesson are going to measure each sides of the plane figures using the ruler.
After getting the measure of each sides, the pupils will add all sides
and right their answer on their paper.

The teacher will present an illustration of plane figures and the pupils
will identify each of them.
After identifying the plane figures presented, the teacher will give the
measure of each sides of the plane figures using different measuring
tools.
The teacher will discuss the concept of perimeter using the song sung
by the pupils and the given measure of the plane figures presented.
Group the class into 5 and each group will present their work in class.
The teacher will ask the class to go outside and measure the sides of
the gym using their foot and record all the measure of each side.
After getting the measure of each sides of the gym, pupils ask to go
back in the classroom and add all sides of the gym and right the sum
of it in their notebook and the appropriate unit of measurement to be
use.

1. I am a square measuring 15 cm on each side. What is my perimeter?

2. I am a scalene triangle measuring 12 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm on each
side. What is my perimeter? ________
3. A rectangle has a length of 22 m and has a width of 10 m. The
perimeter of the rectangle is ________.
4. The trapezoid measures 10 ft., 12 ft., 15 ft. and 14 ft. on its sides.
What is my perimeter? ________
5. I am a parallelogram with the longer sides 24 m each and the shorter
sides 12 m each. My perimeter is ________.
Spongebob wanted to put a fence on his garden. He wanted to find out
how much fence he would need. What unit should Spongebob use to
measure the fence? What tool would he use?

2. How do we visualize the perimeter of different figures?
3. What are the appropriate measuring tools that we can use in
measuring the perimeter of any given plane figure?
A. Piggy needs to find a house with the largest perimeter. Help Piggy
