I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards Demonstrates understanding of the concept of time, perimeter, area,
and volume.
B. Performance Standards Apply the concepts of time, perimeter, area, and volume to
mathematical problems and real-life situations.
C. Learning Visualize the perimeter of any given plane figure in different
Competencies/Objectives situations. (M4ME-lllg-48); and measure the perimeter of any given
Write for the LC code for each figure using appropriate tools. (M4ME-lllh-49)

IV. PROCEDURES
Teacher’s Activities
Before the Lesson
A. Review previous lesson or The teacher will ask the pupils about polygons and they are going to
presenting the new lesson answer it based on the clues given by the teacher.

1. I am a polygon with four equal sides and four right angles? What
am I ? ____________
2. I have three sides and three angles? What am I? ____________
3. I have two long parallel sides and two short parallel sides and four
right angles? What shape am I? ____________
4. I am a quadrilateral with two pairs of opposite sides parallel but I
have no right angle? What shape am I? _____________
5. I am a flat closed shape with 4 straight sides with one pair of
parallel sides. What am I? ______________

B. Establishing a purpose for the In every pupil, the teacher will give two kinds of plane figures. They
lesson are going to measure each sides of the plane figures using the ruler.
After getting the measure of each sides, the pupils will add all sides
and right their answer on their paper.
C. Presenting The teacher will present an illustration of plane figures and the pupils
examples/instances of the new will identify each of them.
lesson
After identifying the plane figures presented, the teacher will give the
measure of each sides of the plane figures using different measuring
tools.

During the Lesson The teacher will discuss the concept of perimeter using the song sung
D. Discussing new concepts and by the pupils and the given measure of the plane figures presented.
practicing new skills #1
E. Discussing new concepts and Group the class into 5 and each group will present their work in class.
practicing new skills #2
The teacher will ask the class to go outside and measure the sides of
the gym using their foot and record all the measure of each side.

After getting the measure of each sides of the gym, pupils ask to go
back in the classroom and add all sides of the gym and right the sum
of it in their notebook and the appropriate unit of measurement to be
use.

F. Developing Mastery Visualize the perimeter of the following plane figures.

1. I am a square measuring 15 cm on each side. What is my perimeter?

______
2. I am a scalene triangle measuring 12 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm on each
side. What is my perimeter? ________
3. A rectangle has a length of 22 m and has a width of 10 m. The
perimeter of the rectangle is ________.
4. The trapezoid measures 10 ft., 12 ft., 15 ft. and 14 ft. on its sides.
What is my perimeter? ________
5. I am a parallelogram with the longer sides 24 m each and the shorter
sides 12 m each. My perimeter is ________.
G. Finding practical applications Spongebob wanted to put a fence on his garden. He wanted to find out
of concepts and skills in daily how much fence he would need. What unit should Spongebob use to
living measure the fence? What tool would he use?

After the Lesson 1. What is perimeter?

H. Making generalizations and 2. How do we visualize the perimeter of different figures?
abstractions about the lesson 3. What are the appropriate measuring tools that we can use in
measuring the perimeter of any given plane figure?
I. Evaluating learning A. Piggy needs to find a house with the largest perimeter. Help Piggy
by finding the perimeter of each house then color the largest one.
B. The teacher asked you to measure the following objects. What
appropriate tool will you use? Ruler or Meter Stick?

1. shoe size_______________
2. 20 peso bill _______________
3. basketball court ______________
4. umbrella _______________
5. blackboard eraser_____________
6. cellphone ___________
7. bedroom ____________
8. garden plot ____________

J. Additional activities for A. Visualize the perimeter of the following plane figures. Write your
application or remediation answer on a sheet of paper.

B. choose the appropriate tool to use (ruler or meter stick) to get the
perimeter of the following. Write your answer on a sheet of paper.

1. A rectangular lot measures 12 m long and 10 m wide.___________

2. I want to know the perimeter of the cellphone of my sister?
____________
3. I have to put a fence on the square garden in our backyard but I
don’t know its perimeter . ___________
4. I have to know the perimeter of my study table because I want to
put plastic cover on it. ____________
5. I want to know the exact measurement of my feet because my mom
wants to buy me a new shoes but I am not allowed to go out.
