LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 4

I- CONTENT STANDARDS

Demonstrates understanding of the concepts of parallel and perpendicular

lines, angles, triangles, and quadrilaterals.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Is able to construct and describe parallel and perpendicular lines, angles,

triangles, and quadrilaterals in designs, drawings and models

LEARNING COMPETENCY

Describes and illustrates parallel, intersecting, and perpendicular lines

(M4GE-IIIa-12.2 ) day 1

OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the pupils will be able to:
a. describe and illustrate parallel, intersecting and perpendicular lines,
b. appreciate the importance of the different lines in real-life situations, and
c. draw perpendicular and parallel lines using a ruler.

II- Subject Matter: Identifying Parallel, Intersecting, and Perpendicular Lines

Prerequisite Concepts and Skills

 Recognizing a point, line, line segment and ray

Materials : CG, TG, LM, ruler, powerpoint presentation, scissors, manila paper,
marking pen
References : K to 12 Grade 4 CG, LM, Math Grade 4 pages 155 and 156
Values Focus: Orderliness
III- Instructional Procedure:

A. Preliminary Activities

 Prayer
 Checking of
Attendance
 Checking of
Assignment
1. Drill

Identify whether the following is a point, a

ray, line segment or a line.

2. Review
Game” What am I“

a. I have an exact location in space . I

am represented by a dot

.
b. I have no endpoint and I can go on
and on in opposite directions.

c. I start out at a point and can be

extended in one direction.

d. I am part of a line with 2 endpoints.

3. Motivation
Picture or imagine yourselves in front
of the flagpole forming lines for the flag
raising ceremony.

a. How should you form your

lines?--------------
b. Why do we always have to form our
lines in an orderly
manner?---------------

c. What will happen if we don’t form

our line
properly?--------------------------------

d. What should we always remember

in forming our lines during flag
ceremony?----------
Developmental activities

1. Presentation

Game on “Forming Lines”

a) All those whose birth
month is in December
will form 2 straight
lines.

b) All those who are

wearing a pants will
form 2 lines that meet
at the center.

c) All those whose birth

month is March will form
one line and another line
for those who were born
in October . Then , form 2
lines that show square
corners.

2. Activity
Divide the class into
three groups. Each group will
work together in illustrating
the given figures to show the
different kinds of lines using
cutouts then present your
output.

Group 1: Crossroads
Group 2: Time using the
hands of the clock
Group3 : Design of a T-
shirt(example : checkered
, striped
3. Analysis
a. How did you find the
activity?
b. How were you able to
illustrate the figure given
to you?
c. Did you cooperate with
your group mates?

3. Abstraction
What are the different
kinds of line that we made
today?
What is a parallel line?
What is an intersecting
line?

What is a perpendicular line?

4. Application

Illustrate the following

kinds of line:
a. parallel line
b. intersecting line
c. perpendicular line

IV- Evaluation
Draw three objects on each line.
a. Parallel line

b. Intersecting line

c. Perpendicular line

V- Assignment:

Identify the different kinds of lines in the

figure below.
Give 2 pairs of parallel lines.
Give 2 pairs of intersecting lines.
Give 2 pairs of perpendicular lines.
