Language Awareness: Past Simple (regular and irregular verbs)

The past simple tense is used to talk about actions that happened in the past. The
verbs in the past simple form end with -ed. But, irregular verbs in the past simple
form do not take the -ed form.
To show a negative statement, ‘did not’ is used. The verb ‘did’ is used to ask
questions about the past.

The past simple forms of the verb ‘to be’ are ‘was’ and ‘were’. ‘was’ is the past
simple form of ‘is’ and ‘am’ while ‘were’ is the past simple of ‘are’.
