CHARACTERIZATION

(SEMI FINALS ACTIVITY)

Protagonist: Romeo and Juliet ( Romantic Crime Film)/ POV Character 'main character'

JULIET is the daughter of Lord and Lady of Capulet, she is young and innocent adolescent. Her youth is
emphasized throughout the play to show her maturation from adolescence to maturity and to
emphasize her role as a tragic heroine. Juliet's love for Romeo provides her with the strength and
courage she needs to defy her parents and face death twice.

ROMEO is the son of Romeo Montague, who is well-liked and respected in Verona. With his inflated
declarations of love for Rosaline, he is initially presented as a comic lover. He abandons his tendency to
be a traditional, fashionable lover after meeting Juliet, and his language becomes intense, reflecting his
genuine passion for Juliet. By avenging Mercutio's death, he sets in motion a series of tragic events that
culminate in suicide when he believes Juliet is dead.

Antagonist: Harry Potter ( Film Series of Fantasy Novels)

LORD VOLDEMORT is the main antagonist of the Harry Potter franchise. He is the archenemy
of the franchise's titular protagonist, as well as the murderer of his parents James and Lily
Potter respectively. He is the heir of Salazar Slytherin who was destined to open the
Chamber of Secrets and purge Hogwarts from all Muggle-Born students. Initially, Riddle's
goals were only to fulfill his role as Slytherin's heir; as the years went on, however, he had
expanded his ambitions into taking over the entire Wizarding World and shape it under his
and Slytherin's supremacist views and ruling eternally. Consequently, Voldemort became
the most powerful and feared Dark Wizard of all time, surpassing fellow Dark Wizard
Gellert Grindelwald in the process, as well as the founder and supreme leader of the Death
Eaters.

Static Character: Shrek(series)

SHREK is an animated cartoon character who is a towering, green ogre with a kind heart.
Shrek is the star of a hugely successful animated film franchise. At the start of the 2001 film
Shrek, the title character lives as a recluse in a remote swamp in the fairy-tale land of
Duloc.
Dynamic Character: Star Wars (Films, series)

ANAKIN SKYWALKER, Anakin journey in Star Wars is full of significant internal changes, both
good and bad. His transformation from Jedi knight to Sith lord is a great example of a
dynamic character undergoing inner change that is negative during his progression, he
loses his “good guy” qualities and becomes an antagonist. He had the potential to become
one of the most powerful Jedi ever, and was believed by some to be the prophesied
Chosen One who would bring balance to the Force.

Foil Character: Harry Potter (Film, series)

DRACO MALFOY grew up as an only child at Malfoy Manor, the magnificent mansion in
Wiltshire which had been in his family’s possession for many centuries. From the time
when he could talk, it was made clear to him that he was triply special because firstly as a
wizard, secondly as a pure-blood, and thirdly as a member of the Malfoy family.

Supporting Character: Mulan (Dram Film, Action)

MUSHU (Eddie Murphy) is a dragon, not a lizard, and he is not afraid to tell anyone who will
listen. Mushu, Fa Mulan’s (Ming-Na Wen) “self-appointed” guardian in Mulan, became a fan
favorite throughout the film for his comedic quips and self-awareness. His failure as the Fa
family’s guardian spirit is only mentioned in passing; he failed to protect a family soldier
from decapitation. Mushu has only hoped to regain his ancestral family’s respect by
accompanying Mulan to war since then.

Minor Character: Pinocchio (Film, Fantasy)

JIMINY CRICKET

In the original story, Jiminy Cricket, the lovable cricket who serves as Pinocchio's
conscience, had a very different plot. The Talking Cricket was a philosopher who tried to
advise Pinocchio in the fourth chapter of Collodi's book, but the puppet became enraged
and smashed the cricket.
