The chart gives information about the percentage of overweight male and

females in Australia from 1980 to 2010


Overall, it is clear that the percentage of overweight females was significantly
higher than males in each year. Additionally, the rate of both males and females
who were overweight fluctuated the research period.
In 1980, the proportion of overweight males stood at 20% while the proportion
of overweight females more than doubled to 40%. The percentage of
overweight males peaked at 50% in 1990 and was 10% lower than in females.
There was a  decrease of 20% in the percentage of overweight males after 1
year, and only a 10% decrease in females in 2000. In 2010, the proportion of
overweight males decreased to 20% and the proportion of females increased to a
peak of 70%.
Males overweight decreased slightly between 2000 and 2010, as seen by a drop
of 10% to 20%, however females overweight climbed to its greatest level
between 2000 and 2010. It is true that more than half of Australian females are
overweight in their final year of life.
