What is the impact of globalization on you?

Globalization brought significant change in my life. It affects me positively and

sometimes negatively if taken inappropriately.

As we are now in this global age, lots of things have changed. Firstly, my way of
living. Before living simply in the province is everything for me. No noise pollution, no air
pollution and most of the food I had eaten were healthy because it is freshly picked from our
garden but now everything has changed from fresh air to a polluted one, from a peaceful
place to a noisy one and though I still eat fruits and vegetables sometimes it still can't be
compared to before because now most of the fruits and veggies are sprayed with chemicals.
Along with the emergence of new technologies, dependence on the gadgets aggrandize.
Unlike before, now I can't leave our house without my phone in my hand. Most of the time
my eyes are glued to it which this is probably one of the reasons why I have poor eyesight.
But despite all these negativities, I can't repudiate how I benefit from it like now I didn't have
to go to the library and spend ample time doing my schoolwork, just one click on the internet
and I'm done. By the use of the internet, I learned lots of new things like through YouTube I
learned how to dance and many more. And by the use of other social media like Facebook,
twitter, Instagram and etc. I can keep in touch with my loved ones who lived kilometers away
from me and with it I can make new friends. Second, my fashion for clothing and taste for
music. Before all I like and listened to was old Filipino songs but now I like and listen to
Korean songs, American songs, and many more same goes for my taste of clothing before all
I wear was Filipino styled clothes now I wear clothes of different styles. And lastly, is the
way I think, act, and speak. All those beliefs that our ancestors taught us slowly fade. Like
the superstition, "when a woman sings while cooking, she will end up a spinster", many
people including me didn't believe this now. There is a particular western thought which I
have. Like western people, I am straightforward and forceful in communicating as well as
decision-making. And I agree to their thought of giving more emphasis on the expression and
satisfaction of the individual’s needs than on conformity to public norms. And the way I act
and speak have completely changed in a way that unlike before, now I learned to reason out
to my parents which this is considered as a big no-no in the Philippines because when
someone does like this will be calculated as no manners.

Adapting to these changes is really vital for us because as Charles Darwin said, only
with it we can survive and prosper. Globalization is no bad at all it just depends on how we
respond or take it, our role as a human.
