EarthxTV Environmental Education Offerings

Story Time Planet! Geared towards kids ages 4-8, young viewers will learn how to “Be Green” by becoming
immersed in stories discussing recycling, renewable energy, gardening, water and much more. The program
guides students on a journey toward protecting our planet.

Planet911 Youth Reports Designed for viewers in the secondary grades, Youth Reports is a wake-up call from
today’s young who are concerned with the future of our planet. Young journalists report on a number of
relevant topics including biodiversity, climate change and sustainable fashion revealing all sides of an issue.
Highlighted is the ability for youth to affect change.

Now This Earth: One Small Step Brought to you in partnership with Now This Media, this resource is suited for
viewers of upper elementary age or older. The short vignettes highlight a solution to an environmental issue
and detail how they work. Can be viewed on EarthxTV and Now This Earth YouTube.

Environmental Videos and Accompanying Lesson Plans

SchoolYard Films, Inc. Created for both elementary and secondary students, these short videos and
documentary style films cover a variety of environmental topics, some in Spanish. They come with K-12
Teachers’ Guides complete with objectives and lesson plans.

EarthEcho, International Designed for students in upper elementary through middle school, Expeditions is a
collection of 6 topics that highlight various environmental issues along with current solutions. Each topic
includes a spotlight on careers as well as youth in action. The organization also hosts a water quality challenge
and a competition spotlighting youth implementing a solution to a community environmental issue.

EarthX Virtual Field Trips Created for K-12 students to enhance their understanding of the environment.
Accompanying each 5-10 minute video is a teacher overview page that includes TEKS correlation, vocabulary
and guiding questions. Designed to be used as an extension to the EarthX STEAM Curriculum or as stand-alone
lessons.

Student Interaction Through Environmental StoryMaps

Lost Cities: A Story of Coral Developed by Caravan Lab, this documentary turned storymap transforms a
passive learning experience into an active one with viewer control. This is geared for secondary students.
TRWD Rainscapes Created by the Tarrant Regional Water District, this visual collection of a video with
accompanying storymap provides secondary students with background information and a tour of the campus
stormwater infrastructure.

Environmental Inspiration Through the Visual Arts

EarthX Inspire Through Eco-Art 2022 Competition: Plant the Seed Calling young artists, ages 5-22, to create
an inspirational piece of art that illustrates this year’s theme: Plant the Seed. Contestants can use any medium
or combination of media to represent their interpretation of the topic. Submissions are being accepted
through January 24, 2022.

TCEQ Take Care of Texas Video Contest Sponsored by the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ),
this video competition is open to 6-12th graders in 2 divisions (MS and HS). They are asked to create a 30
second PSA style video showing positive ways to Take Care of Texas. (New contest dates TBA.)

From Environmental Education to Action

Be the Change! Challenge The Challenge takes PK-12 grade students from education to engagement with
nature to inspiration through the arts and, finally, to taking action. Resources are provided for each task, and
those youth that complete one challenge from each of the four categories will have a tree planted in their
name.
