     The North Vietnam war ended on April 30th, 1975.
     North Vietnam is allied with Cuba and is currently taking support from China and the
    Soviet Union.
     In October 1962, an American U-2 spy plane secretly photographed nuclear missile
    sites being built by the Soviet Union on the island of Cuba.
     Spoke to the nation On October 22 about the crisis.

     Soviets would dismantle the weapon sites in exchange for a pledge from the United
    States not to invade Cuba.
     United States also agreed to remove its nuclear missiles from Turkey. Although the
    Soviets removed their missiles from Cuba, they escalated the building of their military
    arsenal.
     Two actions also signalled a warming in relations between the superpowers: the
    establishment of a teletype "Hotline" between the Kremlin and the White House and
    the signing of the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty on July 25, 1963.

    The treaty:

     prohibited nuclear weapons tests or other nuclear explosions underwater, in the


    atmosphere, or in outer space
     allowed underground nuclear tests as long as no radioactive debris falls outside the
    boundaries of the nation conducting the test.
     pledged signatories to work towards complete disarmament, an end to the armaments
    race, and an end to the contamination of the environment by radioactive substances.
