METHODS OF RESEARCH

1. How do you conceptualize a research study and why do we need to conduct research?
Conceptualization is the process of not only selecting a topic but formulating a defensible
and researchable research problem. It is more than simply generating a list of interesting topics.
In a nutshell, it’s creating the means to have a solid case for doing research. In conceptualizing a
research the researcher always follow the scientific procedure such as the following 1) Identify
and conceptualize a research topic; 2) Formulate a research problem and develop hypothesis; 3)
Identify key theories, terminologies, concepts, and methods; 4) Gathering and interpretations of
data; and 5) Drawing a conclusion and giving recommendation.
The main purposes of conducting research are the following 1) It's a tool for building
knowledge and facilitating learning; 2) It's a means to understand issues and increase public
awareness; 3) It helps us succeed in business; 4) It allows us to disprove lies and support truths;
5) It is a means to find, gauge, and seize opportunities. 6) It promotes a love of and confidence
in reading, writing, analyzing, and sharing valuable information; and 7) It provides nourishment
and exercise for the mind.

2. Explain the difference between quantitative and qualitative research?

Qualitative data is interpretation-based, descriptive, and relating to language. It can help
us to understand why, how, or what happened behind certain behaviors. The data in qualitative
research is subjective and unique and methods are interviewing and observing. This is analyzed
by grouping the data into categories and themes.
Meanwhile, Quantitative data is numbers-based, countable, or measurable. It tells us how
many, how much, or how often in calculations. The data is fixed and universal. Its research
methods are measuring and counting. The data is analyzed using statistical analysis.
