Many people say that smoking should be banned while others say it is not a good idea.

What
is your opinion on this?
It is argued that smoking should be prohibited mainly owing to its deleterious effect on health, others, however,
do not concur with this. From my perspective, whilst I partly consent to the initial notion, it is my firm belief
that smoking should only be limited in public spaces.
On the one hand, I concede that the act of using cigarettes should be curbed for some reasons associated with
health and crime. Smoking has been proven to be detrimental to one’s body, especially lungs. An overdose of
tobacco on a regular basis can engender a significant decline in smokers’ health and such component is
considered as one of the chief culprits behind lung cancer. Henceforth, an early death seems inexorable for
those who have the habit of smoking. Smoking’s long-term effect is, moreover, liable to be inconspicuous at the
initial stage and not only is the cigarette user but also his surrounded people are prone to smoking’s catastrophic
outcomes. Furthermore, in nations that do not limit smoking age, adolescents who take smoking as a
recreational activity are overusing tobacco and becoming addictive. Without the financial ability to afford
cigarettes, they might rob others’ property and the rate of juvenile delinquency might escalate.
On the other hand, notwithstanding cigarettes’ adversity, smoking is still legitimized thanks to its colossal
subsidies for the economy. This is due to the tax money paid by cigarette brands and the nonstop increasing
number of smokers. Myriad countries have utilized smoking’s prevalence to provide a great thrust for their
development, using its tax income for manifold purposes such as facilitating communal amenities and
improving education system. Besides, should smoking come to halt, a gigantic amount of labor working in
tobacco factories will lose their jobs. This shift will indubitably lead to universal unemployment, causing the
economy to procrastinate.
In the light of these factors, I believe that smoking should not be completely banned but limited in densely-
populated areas and from juveniles to alleviate its negative influence on health, and avert economic degradation
and crimes.
