BAA03-Fundamentals of Descriptive Analytics

A. Course Description
This course aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of descriptive analytics.
Descriptive analytics makes use of current transactions to enable managers to visualize
how the company is performing. This course will teach the students in learning how to
prepare reports using a descriptive analytics tool.

B. Course Objectives

General Objective: After completing the course, the students should be able to
acquire a strong foundation on descriptive analytics that will help them analyze and solve
technology and industry-related problems with firm logic and decision-making process.
Specific Objectives:
1. Cognitive: Understand basic information technology concepts about descriptive
analytics.
2. Affective: Use application software of central tendencies, variability and the graphic
visuals to interpret data.
3. Psychomotor: Acquire proficiency in algorithm development and case study about
descriptive analytics field.

H. Classroom Policies
1. Maintain 5S in classroom, always keep the cleanliness and arm chairs must be
organized before leaving the room.
2. Silence is a must during discussion except in recitations. Talking and other disruptive
behaviors are not permitted while classes are in session.
3. Plan to arrive to class on time and to stay for the entire class period because random
arrivals and exits are distracting and disrespectful. Use the backdoor if late, front door

(always locked) is for instructor use only. Attendance is a must and it is always
checked as a part of the class standing.
4. Plan to go to CR before the class period and always be on time.
5. Foods are not allowed inside the classroom.
6. All cell phones, smartphones, and other electronic devices must be hidden from view
during class time except for emergency calls, set your message tone to silent before
the class period.
7. There is NO use of any electronic devices allowed during exams and other graded in-
class assignments.
8.  Keep silent during any type of exams. Any type of material such as Index card
formula is not allowed to be used during examination period.

9. Laptop and tablet computers are allowed for (quiet) note taking only: i.e., other
activities such as checking personal e-mail or browsing the Internet or gaming are
prohibited.
10. Students are responsible for what transpired if they miss a class or a quiz. It is the
student’s responsibility to contact a classmate to determine what was missed. The
absence must be valid for the student to take the special exam and is allowed only to
take the exam with the admission slip with 1 day period prior to his arrival to the
Colegio.
11. Be polite and respectful towards others, instructor and other students especially when
having visitors and class observations.
12. Keep out any materials that are not necessary during class period and always conduct
opening and closing prayer for the class.
13. Be sure to always comply for subject requirements.
