INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES

1. What are individual differences and why are they important to organizational
behavior?

Individual differences are the personalities of one person that is either acquired
or inherited. In an organization, we work with many people and it requires teamwork
with anyone. Therefore, not only our intelligence is needed in order to achieve success,
but also our attitude towards work, how we cope problems, socialization, and every
matters concerning inside the organization. Being control wise of our emotional, social,
physical, and mental skills can contribute also with the organizational behavior because
who we are as an individual is a reflection of the whole organization.

2. What is more influential in determining personality: Nature or nurture?

Our personality that came from nature has to do with the genetics of our parents,
while nurtured personality came from the learnings and exposure from the world. I
believe, the latter is the most influential in determining personality. Experience is the
best teacher for anyone, therefore our inherited genes may still be the source of our
personality, but the environment we belong can truly shape who we are and the
personalities we have. School, I think is one of the main source of our nurtured
personalities because that is the first large environment where we grow up with many
different people; where we first start to socialize and gain friends.
