PROFILE

I am a third-year student pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous

Knowledge Systems and Practices. KSP/033/018/E, as my registration
number. I would like to show my interest and passion, in the 2022-23
MSRC elections as entertainment director. I am sociable, energetic and
hardworking. I have passion in this field, I would like to promote
entertainment at this campus through; General entertainment and
student’s talent and arts. I believe that entertainment is an activity
designed to entertain others, and also it helps in sharing ideas, feelings
as well as experiences as people gather for a common purpose.

ENTERTAINMENT DIVERSITY AT MUST

A. GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT

1. INTER-UNIVESIRTY SOCIAL WEEKENDS.

I want to introduce social weekends that will involve all Universities and
colleges in Malawi. Why? (I believe that entertainment is a form of
social gathering). How will I do this? This will be possible as I will be
working and connecting with entertainment directors from different
universities and colleges.

2. OPEN AIRS: All open airs are to start after classes latest by 5:30pm,
(this will be achieved by the entertainment directorate organizing
transport to bring equipment on campus). With the past regime we
haven’t had open airs as frequently as we are supposed to. Despite other
factors, open airs are a basic need to MUST FAM. With me as the
entertainment director we will be having frequent, regular and best open
airs on campus. At least an interval of every 2 weeks. One at Camp and
the other main campus. Why?-I want to bring a change when it comes to
open airs, because both camp and the main campus are MUST premises.

Re-introduction of a bar on campus or either student bar on campus, to

be under fellow students.
Business during open airs, fee charges to be fair to all this includes all
business personnel at MUST.

3. ARTISTS; The past years it has always been the Entertainment

Director and his committee that selects artists to come and perform on
social weekends. With me as the entertainment director, fellow Students
will have the freedom and power to suggest and choose which musician
artists to have during that particular social weekend. How will I achieve
this! As the entertainment director will open an email for MUST
entertainment department and I will push to have an office dedicated for
entertainment queries, comments and suggestions, its high time we have
to uplift our fellow students who are artists.

4. ENTERTAINMENT AND OUR SPIRITUAL LIFE; Over the past

years as student, I have never seen any entertainment director who
focused in entertainment and our spiritual life, therefore with me as your
entertainment director I look forward to work hand in hand with the
Religious director to be elected, I would like to start organizing praise
and worship events, right after every open air. I want to do this in order
to entertain our spiritual life as well.

5. ENTERTAINMENT AND OTHER DEPARTMENTS; this includes:

Sports, Education, our social life, as well as introduction of movie nights
and many more. I will work hand in hand with all departments in the
Students Union.
ON A SPECIAL NOTE- Sports: I will fight for a bigger screen in the
cafe or at least a projector as the current screen is too small for a large
number of people to watch sports.

B. STUDENT’S TALENT AND ARTS

6. MUST WEBSITE: Introduction of an entertainment section on the

MUST website to explore and expose student’s talents. Despite being
here for school, different students have different artistic skills that if
nurtured and well exposed, could do a lot of good in changing that
student’s life. Hence introduction of this section to showcase to the
world the talents those students at MUST have.

7. MUST TALENTS AWARDS. Introduce awards aimed at

encouraging and promoting different arts and skills that students here on
campus have. To be done every year. These awards will focus on music,
Djaying, poetry, comedy, photography, modelling and any other form of
art that may be registered.

8. SOCIAL WEEKENDS; I believe if an artist is to make it, one of the

best forums is a school setting. That’s why I plan to help every student
artist to push their talent. With me as the entertainment director I will let
and involve students to take part and be fully involved during social
weekends. Empower fellow students first. Give the stage and chance to
student musicians first, photographers, dancers, poets and comedians.

C. ENTERTAINMMET AND NEEDY STUDENTS

9. SHOWS; with me as the entertainment director, I plan to be
organizing special music shows with the sole aim of raising funds to
help needy students. All the funds raised from these shows will be
dedicated to combating academic problems needy students face. The
welfare office in conjunction with MSRC and/or needy students
association will be responsible for managing these funds.

10. EXPOSURE; work on giving needy students in arts the spotlight and
stage during functions to help them be able to make it and at least earn
something to support their personal, artistic and academic lives.

11. ENTRY FEE: entry fee for shows will be considered and made fair
and affordable to accommodate every student. Together we can!
