IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing Solve the problem:
previous lesson Smoked fish is well known in Rosario, Cavite and they originated
or presenting the the famous “Tinapang Salinas”. Joanna, a balikbayan, wanted to
new lesson taste and bring the smoked fish abroad. She bought 5 packs. She
also bought 3 bottles of Achara to match the taste of the delicious
smoked fish. She was happy when she got home because she paid
not more than ₱1450.
1. What mathematical statement represents the problem?
2. Supposed that a pack of smoked fish costs ₱200, what could be
the greatest cost of Achara to the nearest peso?
B. Establishing a Introduce to the students that:
purpose for the • In solving word problems, you must know how to express the
lesson unknown in an inequality.
• There are many possible values of the unknown in solving
problems involving linear inequalities in two variables.
C. Presenting lllustrative Example
examples/ Charles is 2 years older than Neo. The sum of their ages is more
instances of the than 14. Find their ages.
new lesson Representations:
Let n ⟶ Neo’s Age
c ⟶ Charle’s Age
Take note that Charles is 2 years older than Neo. We need to
represent Charles’ age in terms of Neo’s age,
c=n+2
Inequality: c + n > 14
(n + 2) + n > 14
Solution:
c + n > 14
(n + 2) + n > 14
n + 2 + n > 14
2n + 2 > 14
2n > 14 – 2
2n > 12
n>6
Conclusion:
Since Neo’s age is greater than 6 (that is, 7, 8, 9…), solve for
Charles age using the original equation.
c + n > 14
c + 6 > 14
c > 14 - 6
c>8
Charles’ age is greater than 8 (that is 9, 10, 11.. ) and he is 2 years
older than Neo.
If Neo is 7, then Charles is 9.
If Neo is 8, then Charles is 10
If Neo is 9, then Charles is 11.
And so forth.
D. Discussing new How do you solve problems involving linear inequalities in two
concepts and variables?
practicing new
skills #1
E. Discussing new Answer the following worded problems. Use the flow chart as
concepts and your guide.
practicing new 1. Marcus went for shopping at Trece Tower Mall. He plans to
skills #2 spend at most ₱1500 for shirts and pants. He bought 3 shirts
and a pants. How much he can spend for pants if the cost of a
shirt is ₱350 each?

2. Water Camp is known as summer destination in Cavite. It has

swimming pools and slides that adult and kids will surely
enjoy. In a day swimming, the ticket price for adult is ₱220 and
₱180 for kids. Cruz Family went there and paid a maximum of
₱2900 for entrance fee. If there are 5 adults in the family, how
many kids do they have?
F. Developing Read and analyze the problem below and answer each questions.
mastery (leads to Melay is selling Graham balls and Yema Candies for her
Formative Entrepreneurship class. A Graham ball is being sold at 5 Php
Assessment 3) each and a yema Candy at 4 Php each. Her friend, Carissa,
decided to buy from her but she only has 50 Php from her wallet.
1. What are the unknowns in the given?
2. What is the linear inequality model that represents the
problem?
3. Find 3 possible combinations of graham balls and yema
candies that she can buy using her money.
4. Check and solve the three possible combinations
5. Graph the inequality and plot the three possible combinations
in the plane
G. Finding practical Solve the problem by answering the following questions:
applications of Ana has two summer jobs to earn at least 7000 Php for her
concepts and tuition fee for the next curriculum year. She is working at a fast
skills in daily food restaurant in the morning and pays 41 Php per hour. At the
living gasoline station, she is working in the evening and pays 39 Php.
She can work 4 hours a day in each job.
1. What are the unknowns in the problem?
2. Write an inequality model that represents the problem.
3. If Ana will work for 3 weeks at the Fast food restaurant, how
many days does she needs to work at the gasoline station to
earn the money? Show your solution.
4. If she will work for 3 weeks at both jobs, will she earn the
money that she needs?
If yes, how much is her savings? If no, who much more does she
needs?
H. Making To solve word problems, one must know how to express the
generalizations unknown in an inequality. There are steps to follow when writing
and abstractions an inequality and finally, finding its solution.
about the lesson 1. Read, analyze and explore the problem.
2. Choose a variable that will represent the unknown numbers
in the problem.
3. Plan your approach and solve for the unknown.
4. Write your final answer in a complete sentence.
5. Check your answer as much as possible.
I. Evaluating Answer each of the following problems and show your complete
Learning solution.
1. Gabby is buying 3 kg chicken meat and 4kg of pork for his Food
Technology class in a Technological – Vocational School. A kilo of
chicken meat is 150 Php and a kilo of pork is 180 Php. He has
1200 php in his wallet. Is his money enough to buy the necessary
ingredients? Prove your answer.
2. Mr. Reyes deposited 100, 000 Php in his accounts in two
different banks. The first bank gives an annual interest of 5% and
the other bank gives 3%. After a year, Mr. Reyes earned at most
10, 000 Php. Give 3 possible combinations of the amounts
deposited in each bank. On which bank he will earn more? Why?
J. Additional Solve: Five times the lesser of two consecutive even integers is at
activities for most four times the greater.
