DETAILED LESSON PLAN

DLP No.:1 Learning Area: Mathematics Grade Level: 8 Quarter:II Duration:60 minutes
Learning
Competency/ie Code: M8AL- IIa -1
s: Illustrates linear inequalities in two variables.

Key Concepts An open sentence that makes use of any of the relation symbols “<, >, , ,  “ is called
/ an inequality. Linear inequality in two variables is an inequality that can be written in any of the
Understanding following forms:
s to be Ax  By C
Developed:
Ax  By C
Ax  By C
Ax  By C
where A, B, and C are real numbers and A and B are not both equal to zero.
1. Objectives
Knowledge Identify situations that yield to linear inequalities in two variables.
Skills Illustrate linear inequalities in two variables.
Attitudes Show willingness in sharing one’s ideas in performing the activity.
Values Have self confidence in working with each other.
2. Content/

4. Procedures(indicate the steps you will undertake to teach the lesson and indicate the no. of minutes each
step will consume)
Preparation 1. Routinary Activities:
5 minutes a. Prayer
b. Attendance and physical arrangement check.
2. Stimulating Activity:
Give situations wherein the students interpret using the inequality symbols.
Let them give the sound of animals corresponding to the inequality symbols like:
Symbol Sound
 meow(2x)
 tweet(2x)
≠ aw (2x)
 ng...ihhh...
≤ sh..shh...
 Tina & Faye co-managed the event
 Justine is younger than Dave
 Michael gets at least 80% in Math
 I am not equally competent as her
 Dianne outranked Sam in the top 10
 Their combined monthly income is at most Php50,000

25 minutes 1. The students will be grouped into five.
2. Each group will be given real life situations written in cartolina strips.
3. The students will be asked to represent each situations into linear inequalities.
4. Then, they will post their answers for checking.Let one member from each group
to explain their answer.
5. These are the situations:
a. According to research, there are more more female ( f ) Filipinos than male ( m )
Filipinos.
Ans. f > m
b. The value of one Philippine peso is less than the value of one US dollar.
Ans. Php1 < $1
c. The number of apples ( a ) more than twice the number of ponkans ( p )
is greater than 24.
Ans. 2p + a > 24
d. In a month, the total amount the family spends for food ( f ) and educational
expenses ( e ) is at most Php 7,000.
Ans. f + e  7,000
e. The difference between the weight of Kara ( k ) and Rose ( r ) is at least 30.

ANALYSIS:
1. How do you illustrate the given situations into linear inequalities?
2. When do you use the term “at most”? How about “at least”?
3. What other terms are similar to “at most”?How about “at least”?

ABSTRACTION:

How will you illustrate real life situations into linear inequalities in two variables?

Practice Boardwork: Illustrate the given situations into linear inequalities in two variables:
10 minutes 1. The difference between Aileen’s height ( a ) and Caila’s height ( c ) is not more than 1.2 ft.

2. The sum of 20-peso bills ( t ) and fifty peso bills ( f ) is greater than Php 450.

3. A dozen of short pants ( s ) added to half a dozen of pajamas ( p ) has a total

cost of not greater than Php 960.

4.Thrice the number of red balls ( r ) is less than the number of blue balls ( b ).

5. Rechelle bought 2 blouses ( b ) and 3 shirts ( s ) and paid not more than Php 1,000.

5. Assessment (indicate whether it is thru Observation and/ or Talking/conferencing to learners and/or

Analysis of Learner’s Products and/or Tests)

Written Test Answer exercises on the worktext pp. 49 – 50 A & B .

15 minutes

6. Assignment (indicate whether it is for Reinforcement and/or Enrichment and/or Enhancement of the
day’s lesson or Preparation for a new lesson)
Preparation
for a new
lesson Study in advance on the difference between linear inequlities in two variables.
