step will consume)
Preparation
1. Let the student recall on how to translate verbal sentences to a mathematical sentences.
5 minutes
2. Review on how to graph linear inequality in two variables.

1. Given the following verbal sentence, let the student translate into a mathematical
Presentation
sentence.
20 minutes
a. A number added to three times that number is less than 36
𝒙 + 𝟑𝒙 < 36
b. The sum of two consecutive even integers is greater than 56.
𝒙 + (𝒙 + 𝟐) > 56
c. Five times a number is at least 30.
𝟓𝒙 ≥ 𝟓𝟔
d. Three times an integer is at most 7.
𝟑𝒙 ≤ 𝟕

2. Start the class by giving this problem.

Mr. Inodoro C needs to buy at least 60 chairs and desks. A chair costs Php 120
and a desk costs Php 360. How many chairs and desks Mrs. Teborcia Anuhot can buy
from her Php 16, 000- budget? What will be the linear inequality to represent the situation?
Give at least 3 possible combinations.

3. Let the students formulate a linear inequality in two variables based on the problem.
4. Call a representative to write the inequality on the board.
5. Ask another representative to write the other inequality
6. Since there were two linear inequality, let the studentrepresentative to graph one of the
inequalities.
7. Now ask another student to graph the other inequality. Then shade the region or the
solution set of the graph.
8. Let the student identify some combinations (orally) that satisfy the inequality as shown on
the graph.
𝒙 + 𝒚 ≥ 𝟔𝟎 eq.1
𝟏𝟐𝟎𝒙 + 𝟑𝟎𝒚 ≤ 𝟏𝟔 𝟎𝟎𝟎or𝟑𝒙 + 𝟗𝒚 ≤ 𝟒𝟎𝟎 eq.2
Some Possible combinations:
35 chairs, 32 desks
34 chairs, 30 desks
40 chairs, 26 desk
Practice 1. Solve this problem and graph the inequality.
5 minutes
Mah Chu want to spend the hour making some desserts for his eight friends. It will take
five minutes to make a waffle and ten minutes to make a chocolate cake. What will be the
correct models in this situation for linear ineqtality?

𝒙 + 𝒚 ≥ 𝟖 eq 1
𝟓𝒙 + 𝟏𝟎𝒚 ≤ 𝟔𝟎 eq2

2. Let the student familiarize the different key word in order to formulate equations correctly.
Like at most, atleast, less than, greater than and others.

5. Assessment (indicate whether it is thru Observation and/ or Talking/conferencing to learners and/or

Analysis of Learner’s Products and/or Tests)

Refer to worktext page 56, answer numbers 1, and 2.

Teachers may give additional numbers if necessary.
Written Test
25 minutes Solve the following probelems and show your complete solution.

1. In an exam, Ethan must get at least 245 points in at most 45 questions. Some questions
are worth 7 points and the others are worth 2 points. How many 7- point and 2- point
questions should Ethan answer for him to pass the exam?

2. A cellphone producer distributes boxes of units to retail stores. A unit is either a cellphone
or an accessory, and each box can have up to 24 units composed of cellphones and
accessories. In addition, each box must have at least as many cellphones as accessories.
What will be the linear inequality to represent the situation?

6. Assignment (indicate whether it is for Reinforcement and/or Enrichment and/or Enhancement of the
day’s lesson or Preparation for a new lesson)

Enrichment In one half sheet of graphing paper, solve this problem and graph the inequalities.
4 minutes
1. Malia is 8 years older than Tristan, and the sum of their ages is less than 24. Calculate
their possible ages. Give atleast 5 possible combinations of ages.

Let T be Tristan’s age

8 + 𝑇 be Malia’s age

𝟖 + 𝑻 + 𝑻 > 24Possible solutions:

𝟖 + 𝟐𝑻 > 24 Tristan is 7 while Malia is 15
𝟐𝑻 > 24 − 8 Tristan is 6 while Malia is 14
𝑻>8 Tristan is 5 while Malia is 13

7. Wrap-
up/Concludin Close the period by wrapping – up the day’s lesson.
