FINAL DEMONSTRATION LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

Grade 7 –
Content: Patterns and Algebra
Content Standard: The learner demonstrates and understand key concepts of
algebraic expression, the properties of real numbers as applied in linear equations
and inequalities in one variable.
Performance Standard: The learner is able to model situations using oral, written,
graphical and algebraic methods in solving problems involving algebraic expressions,
linear equations and inequalities in one variable.
Learning Competency: Evaluate algebraic expressions for given values of the
variable.
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;
1. Identify the steps in evaluating algebraic expressions.\
2. Evaluate algebraic expressions by applying the steps.
3. Solve problems involving algebraic expressions.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: Evaluating Algebraic Expressions
Grade 7 Mathematics
pp. 190 –191
III. Procedure
Teacher Activity Student Activity
A. Daily Routine
1. Greetings/ Prayer
Good afternoon class! Good afternoon Sir!
Please remain standing for the opening prayer. (One student will lead the

prayer.)
2. Classroom Management
Before you take your seats, will you please pick
up the pieces of trash under you’re your chairs.
And please align your chairs properly.
3. Checking of Attendance
Is everybody present today? Yes, Sir, everybody is present
today.
4. Checking of Assignment
Kindly get your G.B. notebook and exchange it
with your seatmate. We will check the
assignment that I gave to you yesterday.
B. Preparatory Activities
Before we proceed to our next lesson, let us first
try to solve multi-operation mathematical
expression by answering this activity.
(Solve for the following expressions in column A
and Match your answers in column B.)
A B
5
(3)(8) – (14+10)
(2+6)(2–3) 0
(2)(3)+4–5 -8
In order to solve the given expressions correctly, Sir, we follow the rules of order of
what rules did you follow? operation. It is commonly known as
the PEMDAS.
Very well said! Parenthesis, Exponent,
And what do PEMDAS stands for? Multiplication, Division, Addition
and Subtraction.
Very Good!
C. Developmental Activities
1. Motivation
A=1 E=5 I=9 M=13 Q=17 U=21 Y=25
B=2 F=6 J=10 N=14 R=18 V=22 Z=26
C=3 G=7 K=11 O=15 S=19 W=23
D=4 H=8 L=12 P=16 T=20 X=24
Based from the given equivalent value of the
letters, solve for the total value of the given
words.
For example:
H A P P Y
8 + 1 + 16+16 +25 = 66
Did you understand class? Yes, Ma’am!
Okay then, let’s start!
1. B E A U T Y 1. B E A U T Y
2. A T T I T U D E 2 + 5 + 1 + 21 + 20 + 25 = 74
3. K N O W L E D G E 2. A T T I T U D E
4. L O V E O F G O D 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5 = 100
3. K N O W L E D G E
11+14+15+23+12+5+4+7+5=96
4. L O V E O F G O D
12+15+22+5 +15+6+7+15+4=101
2. Presentation
*** De Laila and De Lima receives daily allowance from their parents. De Laila
receive two x-peso coins and four y-peso coins everyday while De Lima receive
one x-peso coins and three y-peso coins. Write an expression that will
determine the total daily allowance each person receives.
What did the problem asked us to do? To write an expression that will
determine the daily allowance each
person receive.
Very good!
The word “each” indicates that we must have
a separate expression for De Laila and De
Lima.
The word “total” give us a hint that we must Addition Sir
use what operation?
Very good!
What will be the expression that will determine Sir, it’s 2x+4y.
the amount that De Laila received?
Very good!
And how about for the amount De Lima It’s x+3y Sir
received?
Very good!
So now, let us solve for the total value if x
represent 5 peso coin and y represent 10
peso coin which means that;
x=5
y=10
De Laila:
2x+4y
We will substitue the value of x and y in the
expression;
2(5)+4(10)
Following the PEMDAS rule;
10+40= 50

Therefore, De Laila receive 50 pesos as his

daily allowance.
Now, can you try to solve for the amount Yes, Ma’am!
receive by De Lima?
(The teacher will call someone to answer on (Solution)
the board.) x+3y
5+3(10)
5+30=35
Very good!
3. Activity
For your activity, I need 10 students to
individually answer these problems.

Did you understand? Yes Sir

1. 5x – 12
2. 9x+7
3. 4x+3y
4. 10 – 7a
5. 8x +14

4. Analysis
How are we going to evaluate algebraic
expressions?
5. Abstraction
First, substitute the given value of
the variable then perform the
indicated operation following the
PEMDAS rule.
6. Evaluation
1. 5(a–b)
2. (6a)(2b–c)
3. 2(3x+y)
4. 4(a-c)
5. 3(3x-y)
