Excellent. You remembered our lesson very well.

Motivation:

Show picture cards of the following:

INTEGRATION: Visualization / Special needs

What are these pictures? foods

SOCIAL BACKGROUND
Have you tried eating this? yes
Why? cheap
What about Toblerone? no, it’s expensive
Explain to them the importance of basic foods and
luxury foods.

Now do you wonder how much its content for every yes
package in the picture?
B. Establishing a
purpose for Do you know how to compute? thinking, no
the lesson
(10 minutes) Introduce the lesson: VOLUME

LITERACY / BREAKING TERMS

But first, I want you to read the basic terms and
their meaning that you need to learn before
proceeding to our new topic.

Volume is the amount of 3-dimensional space

an object contains or occupies.

SI Unit of Volume
The fundamental unit for
measuring volume is the cubic meter.

Note the volume of a container for

liquids is often called its
capacity.

Large volumes are measured in cubic

metres - m3
Smaller volumes are measured in cubic
centimetres - cm3 or cubic millimetres - mm3

Units of volume include:

*Metric: cubic centimeters (cm3), cubic meters
(m3), liters
*US Standard: fluid ounce, cubic inch, cubic
foot, pints, gallons

INTEGRATION: Visualization / Special needs

Hereunder are the formula of some regularly- shaped
objects:
Cube:

Volume = side x side x side or s3

Rectangular prism :

Volume = length x width x height ( V= lwh)

Triangular prism :

Volume = ½ x base of the triangular base x height of the

triangular base x length of the prism
V= ½ x b x h x L

Cylinder:

Volume =π x (radius)² x height of the cylinder

V= π x r² x h

Square- based pyramid;

Volume =1/3 x(side of the base)² x height of the pyramid

(V=1/3 sᶟh)
Rectangular – based pyramid;

Volume =1/3 x length of the base x width of the base x

height of the pyramid (V=1/3 lwh)

Triangle-based pyramid:
Volume =1/3 x 1/2 x base of the triangle x height of the
triangle x height of the pyramid (V=1/3 (1/2 bh)H)

Cone:

Volume =1/3 x π x (radius)² x height (V=1/3 πr²)

Sphere:

Volume =4/3 x π x (radius)ᶟ (V=4/3 πrᶟ)

INTEGRATION: Inclusive / HOTS

Now, how are you supposed to remember these Head shaking

formulas?

PERFORMANCE TASK - Drawing

Each of you will make a ¼ sheet of a short bond
paper for every volume formulas. Yes sir
And I expect you to pass this next week.

Here are some of the conversion factors which would
help you convert given volume units into the desire
volume units:
1 m³ = I million cm³
1 ft³ = 1, 728 in³
1 in³ = 16.4 cm³
1 m³ = 35.3 ft³
1 gal = 3.79 L
1 gal = 4 quarts
