Dear host family:

I would like to introduce our family to you. My name is Jindra, I am Michal`s mom
and I am 42. My husband (Michal`s dad) is Michal and he is 56. Our son (Michal`s
brother) is Pavel, he is 13 and goes to the same school like Michal. We live
together in a little Czech town. There are also 2 pets living with us. The first one
is “Danes” - a dog (Golden Retriever), the second one is “Rocky” (yes, like the
famous boxer) – talkative African Grey Parrot. Rocky is Michal`s big friend, they
talk each other and play every day. My parents visit our family frequently too.
They are Michal`s grandparents. His grandpa`s name is Jindra, he is 70 and
grandma`s name is Marie, she is 66. They both live in a town about 3 kilometers
from our house.

Let me introduce myself and my husband. My husband does the truck transport
business. He has 10 trucks and he exports and imports goods to and from Russia.
I would tell about him that he is very hardworking, cheerful, smart, sincere and
he has leadership abilities. I am a housewife at the moment and I help to
maintain our household. I would say about me that I am friendly, a little shy,
hardworking, cheerful, goodhearted, modest, curious and sincere.

Why do we want Michal to go to the USA? Honestly, at the beginning we both

were against it because we would miss him and be worried about him. By some
time we realized that though we will miss him so much, it will be a great
opportunity into his future life. We have always been supporting our children in
what they want if it is good for them.

Michal studies at high school in Tišnov which is school visited only with talented
students from surroundings. He has been studying second year, which is like
junior class in the USA. I would say that his favorite subjects are English,
computers, geography, social science and physical education. He is doing very
well at school and when he does not understand anything, he is always trying to
ask someone or find the answer on the internet. As to sports, Michal is very
gifted. His favorites are weight training (that is why he wants to try playing
American football) where he goes with his best friend Jirka 3-4 times a week.
That is why he is interested in how to eat and cook healthy food. In winter he
loves to ski, he was even racing and teaching how to ski. He also loves to fly on
powered paragliding with his half-brother. He is interested in IT and computers
(mostly Apple – he is a big fan of Steve Jobs). He likes spending time with friends
and always invents some interesting activity. We know about Michal that he likes
travelling and he would like to travel and meet new places all around the world.
Even though he seemed he had always been decided to go to the USA, he was
actually thinking about this because he is rather sensitive and was afraid of
leaving home for a year. But he finally decided to go and we believe that it is a
right decision.

In our household he helps with cleaning his mess and cleaning parrots cage. He
also cuts the grass outside, tidies his room (but sometimes there is a little mess).
When he does something he always finishes it but sometimes he is a little lazy,
but everybody is. However, he is reliable, communicative and friendly boy. I
think he is going to integrate into your family and respect your family needs and
habits.

His dream was to get to some sunny, paradise-looking place, but he also knows
that it much more depends on you. We hope that these 10 months will positively
enrich not only his life, but also yours. We are very thankful to you because you
are affording an opportunity to our son only by reading a few papers and we
hope that you will have benefits of his stay and you will properly enjoy that year!
