• Odisha has approved the launch of the ‘LABHA’ scheme. LABHA, an acronym
for Laghu Bana Jatya Drabya Kraya, is a 100% state-funded Minimum Support
Price (MSP) for Minor Forest Produce (MFP).

GAIL Secures 10-year LNG Deal With UAE

Standard Chartered Bank Passed Away
• Veteran banker Gurvirendra Singh Talwar (Rana Talwar), the 1st
Indian and Asian to lead a global bank, Standard Chartered Bank
(SCB) Plc, passed away

• अनुभवी बैंकर गु रवीरें द्र लसंह तिवार (रार्ा तिवार), वैलश्वक बैंक, िैं र्र्ड चाटड र्ड बैंक
(एससीबी) पीएिसी का नेतृत्व करने वािे पहिे भारतीय और एलियाई, का लनिन हो
गया।

• He began his career with Citibank India in 1969 and started heading
the retail businesses of Citibank across Asia-Pacific, the Middle
East, and then Europe and North America.

• उन्होंने 1969 िें लसटीबैंक इं लर्या के साथ अपना कररयर िुरू लकया और एलिया-रिां त,
िध्य पूवड और लफर यूरोप और उत्तरी अिेररका िें लसटीबैंक के खुदरा कारोबार का नेतृत्व
करना िुरू लकया।

• In 1997, he joined SCB Plc and later assumed the role of Global Chief
Executive Officer (CEO), becoming the 1st Asian to head an FTSE 25
company and a major global bank.

• 1997 िें, वह एससीबी पीएिसी िें िालिि हुए और बाद िें वैलश्वक िुख्य कायड कारी अलिकारी
(सीईओ) की भूलिका लनभाई, एफटीएसई 25 कंपनी और एक रिुख वैलश्वक बैंक का नेतृत्व करने

• He also served as the chairman of Centurion Bank, which later merged with
the Bank of Punjab and became known as Centurion Bank of Punjab (CBoP).

• उन्होंने सेंचुररयन बैं क के अध्यि के रूप िें भी कायड लकया, लजसका बाद िें बैंक ऑफ पंजाब िें
लविय हो गया और इसे सेंचुररयन बैंक ऑफ पंजाब (सीबीओपी) के रूप िें जाना जाने िगा।

• Sukhbir Singh Gill, the 1st hockey Olympian from Chandigarh, passed away

• चंर्ीगढ़ के पहिे हॉकी ओिंलपयन सुखबीर लसंह लगि का लनिन हो गया

• He made his Indian team debut (senior) at the 1995 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in
Ipoh, Malaysia, and helped Indian team to win the title.

• उन्होंने 1995 िें इपोह, ििेलिया िें सुल्तान अजिान िाह कप िें भारतीय टीि िें पदापडर्
(सीलनयर) लकया और भारतीय टीि को स्टखताब जीतने िें िदद की।

• He represented Bharat Petroleum and the Chandigarh Dynamos in the

Premier Hockey League (domestic hockey).

• उन्होंने रीलियर हॉकी िीग (घरे िू हॉकी) िें भारत पेटरोलियि और चंर्ीगढ़ र्ायनािोज का
रलतलनलित्व लकया।

• Post retirement, he had been running an academy at Shivalik Public School

in Mohali, Punjab and also organised an annual hockey tournament in the
city.

• सेवालनवृलत्त के बाद, वह पंजाब के िोहािी िें लिवालिक पस्टिक स्कूि िें एक अकादिी चिा रहे थे
और िहर िें एक वालर्षडक हॉकी टू नाड िेंट भी आयोलजत करते थे ।

• He was the 1st hockey player from Chandigarh to represent India at

the Sydney 2000 Olympics held in Sydney, Australia, where India
finished 7th.

• वह लसर्नी, ऑिर े लिया िें आयोलजत लसर्नी 2000 ओिंलपक िें भारत का रलतलनलित्व
करने वािे चंर्ीगढ़ के पहिे हॉकी स्टखिाडी थे , जहां भारत 7वें थथान पर रहा था।

• He helped the Indian team to win a gold medal at the 2001 Men’s
Hockey Champions Challenge held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

• उन्होंने 2001 िें ििेलिया के कुआिािंपुर िें आयोलजत पुरुर्ष हॉकी चैंलपयंस चैिेंज िें
भारतीय टीि को स्वर्ड पदक जीतने िें िदद की।

• He also participated in the International Hockey Federation’s (FIH)

2002 Men’s Hockey Champions Trophy (HCT) in Cologne, Germany

• उन्होंने जिडनी के कोिोन िें अंतराड ष्टरीय हॉकी िहासंघ (FIH) की 2002 पुरुर्ष हॉकी
चैंलपयंस टर ॉफी (HCT) िें भी भाग लिया।

World Leprosy Day 2024- January 28
• World Leprosy Day (WLD) is annually observed across the globe on the last
Sunday of January to celebrate people who have experienced leprosy, also
known as Hansen’s disease, and to promote the dignity of people affected by
the disease.

• लवश्व कुष्ठ रोग लदवस (र्ब्ल्यूएिर्ी) रलतवर्षड जनवरी के आस्टखरी रलववार को दु लनया भर िें उन िोगों
को िनाने के लिए िनाया जाता है , लजन्होंने कुष्ठ रोग का अनु भव लकया है , लजसे है नसेन रोग भी कहा
जाता है , और इस बीिारी से रभालवत िोगों की गररिा को बढ़ावा दे ने के लिए।

• World Leprosy Day 2024 observed on 28th January 2024 marks the 71st
observance of the day.

• The 2024 theme of WLD is, “Beat Leprosy.”

• Leprosy is a chronic condition caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium leprae,

Martyrs Day or Shaheed Diwas 2024
• India commemorates Martyrs’ Day, also known as Shaheed
Diwas, on January 30th each year. This day holds a dual
significance as it marks the assassination of Mahatma
Gandhi, the “Father of the Nation,” and also serves to honour
all the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the country’s
freedom and sovereignty.

• भारत रत्येक वर्षड 30 जनवरी को िहीद लदवस िनाता है , लजसे िहीद लदवस भी
कहा जाता है । यह लदन दोहरा िहत्व रखता है क्ोंलक यह "राष्टरलपता" िहात्मा
