IV.STUDY ABOUT FUTURE TENSES:

There is another way to form The Simple Future Tense that is a bit less obvious. In addition to
the “Will” construction is the form “To be Going + Infinitive”.
(to be going to learn)

(to be going to study), etc.

Contrary to some of the other verb tenses the Simple Future Tense is really only used to inform
about actions, situations or events that will happen at some time from now.

Example: I WILL GO to the store and PICK UP the groceries.

We ARE GOING TO WALK the dog around the block a few times.

REMEMBER:

The tense “WILL” has many usages.. It informs about

*Predictions (we think something will happen).

*On-the spot-decisions (instant decisions taken while speaking).

*Promises

*Refusals (we say WILL NOT = WON’T)

*Offers - Ofrecer ayuda, Haver un favor.

*Requests - Hacer una petición, Pedir un favor.

WILL YOU COME WITH ME TO THE SUPERMARKET? = YES, I WILL.

= NO, I WON´T.

V.READ AND ANALYSE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCES AND WRITE ON THE LINES,

WETHER THEY ARE PREDICTIONS, ON-THE SPOT-DECISIONS, PROMISES,

REFUSALS,

OFFERS OR REQUESTS.

1.person A: We don’t have sugar.

person B: I WILL BUY some then. …on-the spot-decision
On the spot decision

2.I need to go to the bank right now, WILL you COME with me?......mmm, Yes, I WILL.

offers On the spot decision …….

3.WILL you OPEN the door, please?

____request_________________

4.I believe they WILL WIN this tennis match.

________prediction_____________

5.person A: ooh!, I WILL HELP you with your bags Mrs. López.

person B: Thank you.

___________________offer ___

6.Billy WILL BE a good doctor some day.

______prediction________________

7.person A: Brother I need three thousand pesos to pay a debt, WILL you LEND me the

money?

person B: No, I WILL NOT. That is too much money.

(WON’T)
________refusal______________

8.person A: I WILL GO to the cinema later, would you like to come?

person B: I’m sorry. I WON’T. I am very busy with my project work.

ENGLISH V - FUTURE CONTINUOUS

II.WATCH THIS SECOND VIDEO ON YOUTUBE CALLED “BBC English Masterclass: Uses of
the Future Continuous”.
