1. Stratified Sampling

Using the Stratified Sampling to calculate the sample size for each subgroup based on the
number of drug users in a population.

Drugs of users Population Size

Opium 210

Shabu 200

cocaine 150

marijuana 200

Total: 760

Solution: To get the sample size in each subgroup (drug users), just multiply the sample
population by the percentage of each subgroup in relation to the study population. The
computation is shown in the final column of the table below, assuming a total sample size of
450.

Drugs of the Population Size Percentage Sample Size Found by

users

Opium 210 27.63 124 0.2763x450

Shabu 200 26.31 118 0.2631x450

cocaine 150 19.73 89 0.1973x450

marijuana 200 26.31 119 0.2631x450

Total 760 100 450

2.) Cluster Sampling

Using cluster sampling, an organization plans to conduct a poll to assess the performance
of smartphones in France. They can split the entire country's population into cities (clusters),
choose the cities with the most people, and filter those utilizing mobile devices.

3.) Purposive Sampling

Using Purposive Sampling, an organization performs pilot testing to gain market input
before introducing a new wine product. The researcher selects skilled wine tasters for the sample
population to give important feedback for product enhancement.

4.) Snowball Sampling

Using the Snowball sampling, assume you're conducting a study on opium use in a

certain locality. It may be tough to find folks who use this chemical for a variety of reasons on
your own. For example, they may feel you are a member of police enforcement and that
conversing with you would result in their detention. However, if you can reach a tiny portion of
your target demographic, they may be able to assist you in contacting potential volunteers for
your study.

5.) Convenience Sampling

Convenience sampling might involve inviting friends to participate in your study,

gathering data from local sites, mailing a survey, or sharing a link on social media. Let’s say
you’re conducting a survey about each Junior high school student’s hours of sleep through
google forms, and you disseminate that survey through messenger and social media platforms to
