1. Stratified Sampling
Using the Stratified Sampling to calculate the sample size for each subgroup based on the
number of drug users in a population.
Opium 210
Shabu 200
cocaine 150
marijuana 200
Total: 760
Solution: To get the sample size in each subgroup (drug users), just multiply the sample
population by the percentage of each subgroup in relation to the study population. The
computation is shown in the final column of the table below, assuming a total sample size of
450.
Using cluster sampling, an organization plans to conduct a poll to assess the performance
of smartphones in France. They can split the entire country's population into cities (clusters),
choose the cities with the most people, and filter those utilizing mobile devices.
Using Purposive Sampling, an organization performs pilot testing to gain market input
before introducing a new wine product. The researcher selects skilled wine tasters for the sample
population to give important feedback for product enhancement.

certain locality. It may be tough to find folks who use this chemical for a variety of reasons on
your own. For example, they may feel you are a member of police enforcement and that
conversing with you would result in their detention. However, if you can reach a tiny portion of
your target demographic, they may be able to assist you in contacting potential volunteers for
your study.
